Does the iron seem to spit steam out and stain clothing? I am on my 2nd B & D iron and both have the same problem.

No, it seems to be much better than many I have owned in the past. It is hard to read The writing on the indicator . No other problems - I recommend this iron.

Does this iron take water or distilled water?

I just got off the phone from Black and Decker and they insist that you should only use tap water and not filtered water or distilled water. By the way Black and Decker customer service is outstanding!
