Bahco 4-188-06-2-0 Double X-Slim Taper Files, 6-Inch, Single Cut

Extremely aggressive cutting file, makes saw sharpening a lesser chore. I have always been frustrated by poor results when sharpening handsaws; it turns out I didn't realize how inferior my files were. Can't speak to longevity as I just used it for the first time, but I am very impressed with this file's performance. At this point I would highly recommend.

From the research I did, I thought this file would be small enough to sharpen a 20 tpi saw. Unfortunately the file I received was too big for what I needed so I returned it. I went back and forth with the seller and Amazon on getting my money refunded after shipping the item back. I ended up getting a partial refund, which was better than nothingAlso as other reviewers have stated, the picture in the ad shows multiple files but the quantity you will receive is one. I expected to only receive on after reading other reviews, but I still feel that the picture is a bit deceptive.

Product title uses the plural “files” and the picture used at the time I purchased showed ~8 files. You can see why i was surprised to only receive a single file.The single file I received is good.

The best saw sharpening files for Euro/US saws I know of. A sharp saw really improves saw function. Sharpening your own builds skills and saves you money. Get 'em while you can.

Bacho file is hard to beat

I would have given this item a five-star review but for the misleading way it was sold. The title says "files" and the picture shows multiple files in a neat grouping. Other sellers have a single file or even a file with handle for less money. Having said that the file itself is high quality and will sharpen saws nicely.

I got this file at the recommendation of Paul Sellers, the traditional hand-tool British woodworker, who recommends it highly to sharpen saws and scissors. It works like a dream. I even used to the flat edge to put a new secondary bevel on a kitchen knife, and I could not be more pleased with the results. I have tried many brands of files (old Nicholsons, Vollorbe, Pferd) and this is one of the best for sharpening.

I bought this file specifically to sharpen the teeth on a nice backsaw, but the triangular points of the file were flat, indistinct, irregular, and in no way would produce a clean cut (or any cut!) at the bottom of the gullets. I subsequently bought an inexpensive example of an old American brand and it arrived with sharp points on all three apexes. Forget Bahco, and shame on one widely followed Youtube woodworker who recommends the brand. $omething fishy there.
