Each wood cell is opened and the resins within the wood are dried, producing a better sounding material. This roasting process makes the wood more resonant and responsive. The feel of oiled and waxed wood is improved, as it becomes less affected by moisture. The stainless steel frets are harder and corrosion resistant.
