Gave up, returned the radio
Update: after multiple freeze ups and doubt of long term use, I returned the unit.Overall, this is not a bad unit. You’re paying for the direct fit design and the Apple CarPlay, in my opinion. The radio feels cheap and the display interface is just OK. It’s nowhere close to looking like a factory unit. The touch screen moves visibly when using it.Installation was straightforward, using YouTube for a reference. The instruction booklet that comes with the radio is close to useless. The wiring harness has made install much simpler. I’m still having a problem with the CAN interface showing front and rear bumper sensors active. I’m not sure what the solution is for that. Steering wheel controls work, Which was a nice surprise. I’m still on the fence after one day in the car as to whether I will keep this and determine whether the positives outweigh the negatives. The only other issue I can see is that the radio does not power off with the car. It has the potential to be left on and drain the battery, this is using the factory harness. I’m hoping to hear back from the vendor as to how to solve the CAN interface issue.

6 months later—this thing sucks
Complete waste of time and money. Doesn’t have apple carplay or android auto. Will be returning.Edit 1: had a faulty lightning cable plugged in. Once I got a good cable it worked, but I will note I doubt this is an officially supported receiver. It doesn’t call the Carplay feature by name, it says i-link. Only time will tell if Apple snubs compatibility with these kinds of units.Good:Sound quality is just as good as the factory unit in my 2013 tiguan.Responsive touch screen with decent color reproduction.Compatible with volume up and down on the steering wheel.Supports the iOS 13 update to Carplay.Bad:Button backlights cycle through a variety of colors with no way to just set the color you want. It annoys me but my wife doesn’t mind it.Limited settings.Requires special adapter to make the backup camera work. Is available on Amazon/ebay for $15-20 though.Buttons feel kinda cheap and mushy.Steering wheel left and right buttons don’t work to skip/rewind tracks like they did on the factory unit. The button programming function did not work.Overall it’s a decent unit. All I really wanted out of it was the Apple Carplay feature without the hassle of buying expensive adapters and wiring harnesses.Edit 2: yeah never mind this thing sucks. It constantly need to be reset using the little button in the top right. Sometimes it freaks out and raises the volume to max out of nowhere. Sometimes the screen suddenly goes white or black. Sometimes it just shuts itself off. Every time you reset it you lose any EQ settings you had previously and the SUB is enabled by default so you’ll notice a striking lack of bass until you manually toggle it back off.It also has managed to kill the battery in our car 4 times now. I have confirmed that it will randomly turn itself on when the car is parked and locked after making sure the head unit was powered off. Volkswagens, in all their German superiority, do not have a 12V supply that is switched by the ignition running to the stereo by default. This means my attempt to bypass the constant battery 12V supply and just run the switched supply as you might do in a normal vehicle was a failure since, well, there isn’t one. So the only remedy I know of would be to add in a dedicated circuit all the way back to the fuse box including a relay that is triggered by the ignition. If you plan on doing this, don’t tap straight into another circuit as the stereo requires significant current and you’ll either blow fuses like mad or worse have an electrical fire.I got the previously mentioned RGB to RCA camera adapter and installed it the other day. In the process, a few pins in the wiring harness pulled out and required repair. The wire on the harness seems like decent quality stuff but the plugs are complete crap. I’m not happy with it, by the way. The image is all grainy and desaturated and it seems it no longer filters the image or whatever it did in the stock head unit for low/bright light situations to improve visibility. At this point, I think I now understand why head units from respectable brands cost twice as much as this thing. Don’t waste your money on these cheap units. If you want Apple Carplay either put down the necessary funds or move on.

100% recommend DAYO car stereos.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. PERFECT! Easy to install, really plug and play, my car model is a VW POLO from 2013 and 2012 Passat TDI SEL, it works perfect! And product arrive in 4 days very quickly.I was worried at first that it would not work with my cars. Installation took 30 minutes and after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, it worked perfect. No problems so far. Audio sounds great and I still have my steering wheel controls! And very pleased with the way the navigation looks and feels. It's quality all around! Love the look of plastic finish and buttons! Best $250 investment for $3,000-worth.Have been recommend it to my friends to their Polo 6R 2013 and Tiguan,I think they will satifiy too.

Doesn't fully turn off and drains your car's battery
It's draining my battery. I will reach out to seller to see if they have a solution. For now I can only give it one star. Will update if I find a fix.

It works but it doesn’t....
Just installed it today and it fits perfect but it won’t turn off with the car, the volume goes up and down randomly and the steering controls lag a lot. Also airbag service light popped up after installing. The Apple car play works good it’s just that the stereo stays on after you shut off the car even after you turn it off manually the Bluetooth is still shows up as connected in my phone which gives me a reason to think the battery will be drained or something.

Terrible
I know what you're thinking "I know it's a Chinese knockoff, but how bad can it be?"It's terrible. It's very buggy, resets all the time, and makes a very high pitched buzzing sound. Do not buy. Caveat emptor!

It caught fire
I wish I could give this product zero stars, it would never shut off or turn on with my ignition it has to be turned on/off individually. Im currently trying to get refunded because one day the system started to fill my car with smoke and wouldn't work.

Not worth it
This head unit is cheaply made touch screen doesn’t react to touch fast enough, sound quality is subpar, in my opinion this unit is not worth the money.
