I hav bought this book three times. It is wonderful. Teaches about relationship with the land.

Great book for classrooms

This was a book I used for my native American unit at school. It was a good book.

This is such an awesome book! The story and illustrations are beautiful and important.

Wonderfully written, beautiful colors and pages. Great quality book with a great story behind it to teach the youth.

My son loves it! He discovers new perspectives on every page. He can't read fully, but he now knows the whole story by looking at the pages.

I am part Ojibwe, learning more about my heritage and was ga-ga over these illustrations, especially the designs similar to Ojibwe beadwork embroidery. My favorite page is the one showing we were in water for the first nine months of our lives with its touching and gorgeous illustration. Very powerful for young ones to have the water protector pledge to sign at the end of the book.

Beautiful artwork and great theme. You can tell the author it's very passionate about this topic. Four stars is simply because the language is a bit stilted in areas and doesn't read very smoothly. I find I'm adding additional words to create better cadence when I'm reading aloud. But my two boys love the book and it is a frequent bedtime request. Very much recommend.
