Good concept but bad steel maybe?
Shape of the handle feels good in the hand. Wood is fairly rough open grain and not really treated at all, a sizable chunk splintered off the end while honing. Took quite some time (many hours of coarse DMT Stone reprofiling) to get it honed to a suitable edge for carving so I figured the steel was nice and tough. Perhaps TOO hard/brittle? I finished reshaping the edge and stropping, went to use on some medium hard dry wood after extensive testing on a softer wood and the edge is chipped beyond reasonable repair. My camera doesn’t show the edge damage very clearly but I’m tossing this knife.. most steel you can recover from but I don’t think this one is redeemable. Too much time wasted on a mediocre item. I’d rather pour hours of honing into something worthy. Or not have to do all the work in the first place and receive a knife I can actually use! 20$ “Value item” lesson learned!

This knifes comes quite dull, with a factory bevel
This knifes comes quite dull, with a factory bevel. It took at least a couple hours of work, with sandpaper, sharpening stones, and a strop to get it sharp enough to use. With all that done, it is now the knife i reach for most often for relief carving and whittling. It holds an edge well, requiring only occasional stropping. Expect to invest some effort on the front end, though.
