Dakine Campus S 18L - Ashcroft Camo, One Size

*Long Review but a goodie!I have been in love with Dakine backpacks for over 10 years now, even when their products were mostly masculine looking before they actually added in feminine looking designs.I’m a Dakine Mom Of 3 backpacks! LOL😁I am a woman of average weight for a 5 foot 3” curvy frame for those of you ladies out there that are always looking for backpacks to fit our smaller frames that don’t swallow you when you’re wearing it, haha...I own a 26 L Floral Jewel that I purchased last year mostly for hiking and being able to put my sons items inside my backpack. I love that the Jewel backpack also has a cooler zipper in the front. I actually purchased that one on Steep & Cheap website because it was so much cheaper at the time than on Amazon. But I will admit the 26 L is too big and long to be able to use as an every day backpack, which is why it’s considered my hiking or outdoor backpack. And probably when I travel it will be the backpack that goes with me on the plane to fit everything. This backpack has a separate compartment for your laptop or iPad that is of semi thickness.a 20 L Garden backpack that I actually found at Goodwill for $6 bucks that you can even still find on the Internet! I like it because it looks a little hippie with the colors, and even if I buy another 20 L backpack I don’t think I will get rid of it because it would be nice to have an extra backpack in case I have a friend visiting who wants a backpack for daytrips. My garden has a very thick padding insert for your laptop.And now I own this beautiful new design, the 18 Liter Waimea Campus Mini. This one fits my frame perfectly! Didn’t even know an 18 L backpack existed! This backpack although the perfect size does not have any padding for your laptop on the laptop insert. But I still love it and keeping it because this backpack is for quick trips to the coffee shop when I need to get out of the house.So I guess Dakine is really starting to take notice with various sizes of us humans and finally making a lot of different amazing sizes!I’ve now seen this 18 L, I also saw a 15 L, and then of course I’ve seen there are 13 leader which probably is more like a small day pack. So when you’re shopping around for backpacks you really truly have to shop not just by design and functionality but by the size. Not all brands are going to offer a wide range of sizes and designs such as Dakine. Billabong has great designs also but they don’t offer the variety as Dakine.HUGE TIP FOR EVERYONE:Not all Dakine backpacks are made of high-quality, so make sure that you send it back in order something different if you get one that isn’t good quality. Last year I ordered a backpack that had a great design and it was a design that was representative of a very popular female snowboarder, but when I ordered that backpack from Amazon it felt so thin and cheap that I sent it back. It felt nothing like my original garden backpack that I’ve had for a few years now.Maybe it was a fluke and a bad experimentation of the keen to try to save money with material or something but it’s not going to work with people who have already been purchasing the their products. The more you speak up with a bad review and send your products back that feel extremely cheap… The company over time should take a notic... this is with anything you purchase!The backpacks you see here in my photo are of great quality I feel they do represent Dakine quality that I know.Keep in mind though that not all backpacks will have the same laptop lining quality either, And sometimes you might just have to order a few backpacks at the same time to see them touch them and feel them and put them on your back before you make a decision of which one you’re going to keep.I love this new Waimea designed so much that I think I’m going to go ahead and order a few of the other products in their line for this design to match with this backpack now.I’m super happy with it.

Im 4'11" so most backpacks are too large for me. I wanted something for day hiking with my dog. The main compartment is big enough to carry both of our waters, her bowl, any snacks or toys, and still have extra space. The middle compartment is pretty shallow, it doesn't go down all the way to the bottom of the bag. The front compartment is small and insulated, I suppose a sandwich might fit, but it would probably get quite smooshed. I have the normal pint sized water bottle standing up in them in my pictures for scale.On the whole the bag is nice quality and small enough that it fits me perfectly, comfortable to carry, and large enough to serve as a little day hiking bag. My only complaint is that I typically bring liter sized water bottles and the side mesh pockets are too small to fit them easily, so I need to put those inside. If those pockets were just a smidge bigger, this would be pretty much the best backpack ever made. The colors look exactly like they do in the product pictures, the lighting in my puctures is just kind of off.I cannot attest to its water resistance as I've not been out in the rain with it yet.

The advertisement shows it being a tan color but it’s more of a green color in person. Pictures for reference, I’ve had the hardest time with these backpacks. I’ve always used this brand for many different types of bags so I’m pretty disappointed.

I really like this backpack. I've been looking for a smaller, less cumbersome bag and this is perfect. Its large enough for my laptop, a few notebooks and textbooks, lunch, water bottle, and a few smaller belongings. I would not recommend this bag if you're looking to carry more than that. You can see in the photo I've attached that it's close to max capacity with a very slim laptop, a 2 1/2" binder and a five subject notebook. The pockets included for organization are very useful, and I like that they are located separate from the main compartment. The insulated cooler pocket is great, but I wish it was a little deeper. It really only fits one sandwich and maybe a very small snack. It's also worth mentioning that the chest strap is very awkwardly placed and completely unusable for women. I can't comment on the durability just yet, but it does seem relatively well made. Overall happy with my purchase.

It’s not the first Dakine pack I’ve bought for my lady, and likely won’t be the last. Every year and a half it seems she wants a new color way and the campus backpack always hits the spot for her. As she doesn’t care for purses or or to tote around Birkin bags, for EDC (every day carry) dakine stands the test of time. To be honest the variety of color ways, sizes, comfort and durability has made dakine THE go to pack what ever the element!

Most of the surf brand packs are big enough to fit my kid inside them. where are the packs made for 5-7 yr olds? this is the best sized pack for this age group. looove the insulated pocket for snacks. just the right amount of pockets. i hate those one that have so many zippers you open 10 before you find your keys/phone.love the graffitti-like animal scene pattern of the stomptown design, fabric, everything.....so cute for my boy! wish i could afford the other accessories with same pattern
