Great bundle to start playing right away your SPD-SX
This bundle contains everything needed to start using the Roland SPD-SX unit. If you try to buy the components separately you will Spend more, and risk buying some incompatible product. Go around and add up all the individual components, and you'll see what I mean.I still don't see the components listed here so here's my 2 cents to try and list them and give a brief review:The main unit is the Roland SPD-SX. The unit is a bit lighter for what I was expecting but also really sturdy. Really well built. This is a SAMPLING pad so it will NOT generate sounds since it does not has an sound generator engine. If you have a good sound library you can import it though be warned it only reads WAV and AIFF. Max size is capped at 2GB. You can control other sources from its included MIDI IN/OUT. Until now usage has been almost flawless. It's really intuitive to use, manual is really clear. As long as you don't expect it to do something else that it's not designed to do, you'll love it. One of the best part is it's metronome/tempo output routing. You can route to earphones, main out or sub-out. The unit uses USB to connect to PC and includes a basic audio management software to manage BASIC actions like importing, deleting, renaming wavs, kits, and also includes full Import/Export capabilities to your PC. Anyway if you're here you're probably aware of what it can do ;)***Read the manual online so you get familiarized with the unit and functions beforehand. That way when it arrives you can enjoy it right away***[...]The pedal is a BOSS FS-5U. It's a momentary switch. Great for triggering extra sounds and other stuff from the unit. The Stand adapter is a ROLAND APC-33. This is the stand adapter designed to fit the SPD-SX so there is basically no other choice here. It'sThe cables are HOSA. There are 2 balanced 1/4's (one is for the footswitch the other you can use for additional trigger of footswitch), 1 two-way MIDI, 2 balanced 1/4 to XRL's (great for outputting to console). I've tried them all except the MIDI and they work as expected. Nothing exiting here. The sticks are 5A Nova by Vic Firth. B-quality sticks but do the job to operate the unit when not drumming with the set. I wouldn't use them for with my drumset but that's because I'm a heavy hitter. I have them beside my PC for when I bring the unit to import sounds etc.I am very pleased with this bundle. I have not seen any other bundle for this unit over the net so it was a no-brainer.I will be using this to reproduce some sequences in a live setting for Message to Venus: [...] Hope all goes as planned!NOTE:Sonic Sense also has other bundles featuring the SPD-SX so be sure this is the one you want/need.

Great service for great product!
First off, this is a sweet package for the cost! I did have an issue with not receiving the full shipment and had to contact the company. They provided excellent service and shipped me what I was missing. Product came in excellent condition and I am still tweaking with some of the settings/presets. THIS IS A SAMPLING MACHINE, THOUGH YOU COULD ALSO USE SOME OF THE DRUM PRESETS!!! I usually put sound effects or fill-ins for my background sound (which is in .wav format from my FL/CUBASE/ETC. programs) when I'm playing live and it saves from hauling my computer everywhere in gigs. Plus with the added real-time effects modulator, I am just starting with the potential this machine could produce!!! I really appreciated the fact that the company I purchased the product for me got back to me with haste and sent the missing parts. I would definitely order from them again in the future!

Very good for live performance applications
This is a solid sample pad. Very good for live performance applications. Also it is a lot more programmable than most other electronic drums which makes it very versatile.

It's expensive, but worth it!
The learning curve is huge, but if you're looking to add electronics to your drum kit, this IS the only product you would want! The expansion options for triggers is unmatched.

NOT WORTH HALF OF THE PRICE. Clunky and dated.
Yes, the hardware feels nice. Now for the cons:This thing is clunky to program and feels like it hasn't been updated for 20 years. The user interface is awkward, and changing settings is super cumbersome with lots of menu diving and weird redundancies.Loading samples is awful, because the editor software is awful. No drag and drop, no resizing the window to see filenames longer than a few characters, no conversion to the correct format (so that the majority of your samples will not load), and a crazy low number of folders allowed that makes using this thing very limited. There is also no easy way of removing kits or defaulting a kit to its setting, so that if you changed anything in a kit, like MIDI settings, those settings are stuck to that kit until you go back and change everything individually. So yeah, be prepared to find out that the only actually decent software editor is third party and costs $40. It's completely insane that Roland is asking this much money for this thing. If you really want a good sample pad, you have to unfortunately get a SPD-SX Pro, which at least they've updated some time in the last century.

A must have!!
The Roland SPD-SX is a must have added to the acoustic drum kit. I’ve used it by its self in a studio recording to a small gig. With the ability to upload my own files, the possibilities are endless. You will need regret purchasing your own multi sample pad.

Great Buy, can be a hassle
An excellent purchase, once you start really making it your own. The presets are pretty basic, but good to show the versatility and mechanics of the sampling pad.the only reason I gave it four stars and not five was because I couldn't load my WAV samples on correctly, due to an error in the program. An easy way to fix this is to have the SPD-SX record the sample, and assign it to the desired pad.The sampling pad is more of a live performance tool than a production tool, but it is possible.

Dependable, easy to use.
Not free but very dependable sampler. Getting samples and setting up scenes is easy with SPD-SX editor. I'm an acoustic guitarist using it to trigger backing tracks and to trigger samples via kick pedal during some songs.
