Inexpensive, functional
I got this to replace an old light I had which used a xenon bulb and fibers. Heavy, hot. This thing is light, and brighter than the old one, which means I can use it at the higher magnifications of 50 to 80x.I note that the color of the light from the LEDs is a bit on the cold, bluish side, but you can't have everything!A great value.

Love it
This thing is super bright, but dimmable too. Or turn it off if you need to see some pencil marks, but definitely a great light

I love this microscope light!
After looking through all of the options, this one stands out for having a better design at a cheaper price point.-More expensive units have plastic mounting holes that can be stripped over time and this product has metal threads that should make this last longer.-While more expensive units have more lights, they are generally smaller than the LEDs inside this product which makes the lighting pretty much equal between them.-More expensive models have the cord and switch in a weird position while this product has it where you can easily adjust the brightness and turn it on and off without having to look away from the microscope.

Great value for utilitarian use.
A great value. The light is bright enough for low magnification paleontology prep work. The light color is bluer than daylight, and I'm sure the CRI isn't great, but it's not bad to work with compared to much more expensive fiber optic ring lights with halogen generators. It's quite light...lighter than a fiber optic assembly and cable. The on/off and intensity control are nice to have mounted near the objectives. The cord could be longer, but it's adequate. The diameter of the mount works fine with the surplus Leica binocular units I've tried it with. I would not use this light if color judgement is important for the application.

Great until the electronics start failing
The Constant Current driver used internally does not have a way to guarantee load sharing between LEDs. Eventually, it will start to dim. You won't believe it at first. The dimmer still works. But it's definitely not as bright as a new one. Opening up the device, some of the wires got so hot that they "stuck" themselves to the plastic cast of the device (which also got a slight discoloration). Stick with the cheaper DC rings until this one comes out with a new version that deserves the higher price point.

this seems to be a good product, and performs as advertised
After a few days of use, this seems to be a good product, and performs as advertised. Installed on a NIKON SMZ The center hole is just under 60mm at the bottom, but where the clamp screws are it is sufficiently larger to fit a 60mmOD objective. The loss of working clearance is about 8 to 10mm (I didn't measure exactly, as it isn't an issue for me)Dimming range is from off at the low end to bright enough to us usable with camera pickoff beamsplitters in place and the objective aperture stopped down most of the way. The control has a linear feel and the entire range is useful. The light pattern is OK. About what would be expected for a low price illuminator, being hot to the center. At a distance of about 65mm from the face of the light, about 40mm diameter is well lit, with the brightness in the central 10 or 15mm being noticeably, but not excessively brighter. It is definitely visible via the camera, but not really through the eyepieces.I can't speak to the longevity or ruggedness at this time, but there are no obvious items of concern. The device does not use and external supply, so the brightness know and power conditioning are in the body. The body does get a little warm, but it is not a big issue. I like having the controls on the device, and not having another external power supply to keep track of.

Illuminates Beautifully, Adjustable from too bright near zero, Great Quality
I mounted this on my stereo microscope to replace an old fluorescent lamp and I love it. The thumbscrews provided a nice tight fit on my Nikon scope and the illumination adjustment provided a wide range of illumination options. I was able to locate the adjustment knob on the right side of my scope facing me and the power cord draped off to the back of the scope and out of the way. Highly recommend this microscope lamp for the price.

Works great
This light works great. I have never tried the 144 led version, but gave this one a try since the screws have a metal standoff in the plastic base of light. The 144 led version has it's screws directly in the plastic, or so the reviews for that product said so. I have no complaints, it's bright, adjustable, and have a on and off switch on it. From the microscope, everything is lighted up in the eyepieces.

Quedó excelente, mejor iluminación que el foco original del estereoscopio

Non-Compliant UK Plug
This microscope light offers good value for money but with a caveat. I like the variable brightness control, which covers a wide range and it should be possible to fit it to most binocular microscopes. Sadly, what lets it down is the UK mains plug. It has no BS kite mark. The body of the plug is too narrow and there is no fuse. There is also no Internal fuse (see photos). As supplied it is a fire hazard. If you buy this product, please have somebody competent cut the molded plug off and fit a proper one with a 1A fuse.
