The Mighty Have Fallen
I have been wearing Sperry A/Os for probably 15 years now. My previous pair lasted me 7 years and treated me very well but I had to trash them as the soles of the shoe completely fell apart. Although the leather was perfectly suitable to be resoled, Sperry doesn't offer their soles to resole boat shoes, which is painful and disheartening as the leather after 7 years was incredibly well formed and broken into my feet, super comfortable. I bought a new pair here and wow these are not the same shoe that I loved and used for nearly a decade. The sizing is off, I ordered a size smaller than my last pair but these somehow feel bigger than my last. The leather quality is completely awful compared to before. The coloring of the Sahara is totally different, way lighter and much less flattering than even the images on here. They wholly feel like a cheap overstock shoe from Marshalls or TJ Maxx.I'll be returning these. It's a sad day to see such an icon of Americana fall so far and so suddenly, especially when its the original boat shoe. I'll have to take my business elsewhere for the quality I crave from what Sperry used to be.

Shoes falling apart after a month!
My son has worn these for 23 days at school (winter uniform started in mid Oct) and they have already fallen apart. This is absolutely unacceptable considering how much the shoes were, and he's not even hard on this shoes usually! I never want to purchase Sperry's again, I am extremely disappointed.

Lower quality than they used to be, not worth the money anymore.
I have worn this same model of sperry topsiders for a while now, but I'm sad to say this will be my last pair. Sperry quality has gone down significantly between my last pair and these. Immediately after receiving these they had a loud hissing noise from the left shoe with every step I took. I figured this might go away with time, but its still there. Then I took them on a boat of all things, and after a couple of days sailing, not even getting completely wet they started to deteriorate even more. The leather became completely discolored and the insoles are all curled up.After this I emailed Sperry to let them know about the issues with the shoes. I got a fast response saying they would take them in and if they were defective replace them. I responded only to have them ignore me. I tried responding again and got the same email making me think that this is an automated response and not something they intend to follow through on.After owning my previous pair for almost 2 years and having them held up amazingly well I was thoroughly disappointed in what Sperry is willing to sell with their logo on it these days. Stay away from these shoes, they are not worth the money anymore.

Buy elsewhere!
These shoes won't stop squeaking with each step. I've been hoping it would go away after breaking them in, but it's been 3 months and I still have clown shoes. Don't buy these from Amazon.Edit: I reached out to the company directly and they replaced my clown shoes at no additional cost

Love these deck shoes!
Not having worn topsider-style shoes since the 80s, I was prepared to be disappointed by these, especially after reading some of the reviews saying the Sperry quality had slipped. On the contrary, these shoes looked awesome right out of the box and were nicely packaged. I ordered a half size down, like I saw suggested on the Sperry website (since you typically these wear barefoot and they are supposed to stretch some). I'm actually wearing them right now, after just opening them less than an hour ago. They fit great with a thin no-show sock. I also selected the wide size, then was confused when the cart showed 10 M. 10 W is what arrived, so they got it right. Only small quibble is that the Sahara color is lighter than the image on Amazon. Still, I think they look sweet and feel great so far!

The mighty have not fallen as far as I'm concerned.
I bought these with no prior experience with the Sperry brand, and without reading all the reviews about how their quality has supposedly deteriorated. Well, I've been wearing the heck out of them for over 5 months, nearly every day since the weather got warm and I had to start working from home. They were a bit tight when new but stretched and now fit perfectly, a half size less than what I might ordinarily buy. I've put many miles on them on rough pavement and it's pretty clear that the soles, though durable, will wear down long before any part of the uppers show any noticeable wear. If I just wore them around the house and on vacations and trips to the beach, which may happen if I ever get back to my office on a regular basis, it's clear they would last many years. Sahara is lighter than appears on the photo, as another reviewer has said. But I like these so much, and paid a lot less for them than they are selling for on amazon now, that I may take it easy on them to get more years of use. Very good quality as far as I'm concerned. Edit: I don't mean to diss the expert sailors who are giving these shoes bad reviews here due to their lack of durability. These are boat shoes for passengers, not crew. If you want handmade in USA boat shoes, Sperry still sells them -- for $375. Rancourt does too, for $250.

Everyday shoes for everywhere
I bought my first pair of top-sliders at Disney World. I wore them most of the trip (7-14 miles a day) and then about half the week for the next 3 years. They are simply amazing. Comfortable, breathable, real leather and you can wear them without socks. This is my second pair of the originals and third pair of sperry branded shoes. All of them have been wonderful. The upper being 100% genuine leather is a big seller for me. The ball of my feet tend to be wide and they stretch very well. Seem to fit true to shoe size.

Slightly large UK8
Initially we thought we had received the wrong size, the box showing Size 9, and I initiated a return. However we then noticed the label also showed it as a size 8 UK, size 9 being USA. So even though the shoe was slightly bigger against an identical older pair of the same make etc, the hubby decided that they were not too big upon trying on and without socks as they are supposed to be worn. The are in fact perfect. Original box, original lace hole metal rivets with the Sperry name, branding also identical on the whole shoe, so he's very pleased.

Classic look, well made, comfortable once broken in.
Excellent boat shoes. Bought them about a month before a sailing holiday to break them in. Just got back from that holiday and can happily recommend them. The heel was a little painful at first due to an overlap of leather - I wore socks with them until the holiday. Tried them without socks while away and have no heel issues any more. Now they are broken in they are very comfortable. That said, if I was going on a long walk with them I would still wear socks to avoid potential blisters. With no-show socks no one even sees them anyway. The laces tend to stay tied better than other leather laces have done with other makes of boat shoe. The shoes take longer to dry than my previous pair of Timberland boat shoes however the Sperrys are more of a firm leather than the Tims (which were more of a soft nubuck leather). After a complete soaking in the sea they took about a day to dry. Not too bad really. Overall, these boat shoes have the classic look, they are well made, and once broken in they are comfortable. I would definitely recommend them.

As good as Sebago Docksides
I have had a pair of Sebago Docksides (or their earlier equivalent) for many years and have been delighted with them. So trying out the Sperry look-a-likes was risky. However, I need not have worried. The shoes are an excellent alternative. Look good, fit well, and are comfortable.

I am now an official Sperry Top Sider Fan!!!!
Ive not had the chance to wear these on the deck of a boat but I have worn them on the slippery pool side on holiday and they stuck like glue!!Its not what I bought them for but its good to see their stickiness as Im hoping to buy one soon.I bought these cos I love boaters and have gotten fed up of cheap homage pairs from the high street shops. I googled 'best boat shoe brands' and Sperry came up, I read the back story and was keen to try them. I bought 2 pairs just before our holidays and am really glad I did.Compared to the boat 'style' shoes these are head and shoulders above. They are really really comfy..... surprisingly so and they fitted perfectly at my size which is a 9.I am now an official Sperry Top Sider Fan!!!!

Good but not the best.
I liked the fact that it was a good fit. The leather was not of the best quality. The soles likewise were not as good as the more expensive shoes of this brand. Cheap but good.
