We have had barn swallows nesting in the top of our front porch for 4 years. We finally said, this is enough of the mess eventhough we enjoy the babies when they first hatch, fly and return. We tried sprays and many ways to discourage them, but they are PERSISTANT!! I ordered the Bird-B-Gone strips. I washed all the dirt, mud off the wood, let it dry throughly, installed the strips very easily with just the adhesive and waited to see what the birds would do. They flew in and out for several days, but never tried to nest. The beauty of this product is the whispy look it gives our front porch and when the lights are on at night it really is pretty! We'll leave them up forever, we like the decor. These strips really work!!

Update, the swallows knocked down this junk and built their nest where it used to be. I reiterate, this is junk! So we installed these just outside our front door where the barn swallows nest each year. About an hour after the installation, I see a barn swallow sitting on the start of a brand new nest, directly behind the little strings, (which is just fishing line by the way) and I swear that flipping bird smiled at me. Well year after year I have to wait until the little birds hatch and defecate all over the brick and the porch and then I get to power wash the leftovers and bathe in their filth. This product deterred nothing! I knocked a full blown nest down today and the birds are constantly flying in and out (no eggs, don’t panic). What a total waste. The product stayed in place but the birds used it as a curtain so they could make more birds behind it. My suggestion is get your own fishing line and hang a few for less than a buck.

The media could not be loaded. I have twelve nests around our wrap around porch, so you can imagine the poop! Once the nests were empty, I knocked them all down but they kept rebuilding. After a few weeks of trying to just knock the empty partial nests down each morning, and making my own repellent out of ingredients that supposably they hate…(didnt work!) I bought these. I cleaned each area and put them up, and after half a day I noticed the birds stopped trying. They would perch for a bit and try to get through it but gave up eventually. In my video, I didn’t put one up in one of their spots because they hadn’t been building there. I saw a bird building one, and immediately put one up… and when they came back…. SURPRISE! It kept them from continuing to build. I saw some of the reviews that said the birds just ended up using part of the lines in their nests (I’m praying they don’t end up doing that!) but so far it seems to work. If it doesn’t, I will add another one in front of it, and/or maybe some reflective strips.

These seemed to work good for the first couple of weeks. Trying to think like a bird here I theorize the swallows got used to them. Some of the nylon line's ended up being built right into their mud nests. The shallows ended up sticking around. We finally made a couple of changes to our program but continued to use the strips. It has been almost 2 weeks now. No more mess. I would definitely purchase these again.

This is an awesome product. I love it because it was easy to install and it’s not an eye sore because it’s basically see thru. I like also that it doesn’t harm the birds. It works!!

They keep falling down when it gets warm outside

Unless you have experienced the frustration of swallows who have decided your house is theirs no matter what you do, you might not get it……..but this product is life changing. For the past few years they have repeatedly built their nests right over the door of my side porch. From May to September they are there. Constantly having to clean the porch of their nest materials. Poop all over the ledges and porch. Messy windows. I have repeatedly knocked down nests in the morning to have them fully rebuilt hours later. And the nests stain and are impossible to remove without scrubbing/power washing. Fake owls, whirly gigs, spikes, shiny discs. Nothing worked more than a day or two before they were back AND they all looked awful. I’d tried everything else so went looking (again) and found BirdBGone. I ordered enough to line over the door of the covered porch to try it out. I am a 66 year old woman who standing on a step ladder affixed the panels to the ceiling easily by myself using the attached adhesive. The clear panels blend in nicely to the painted ceiling and the monofilament brushes by the front of the door ledge. Up close it doesn’t stand out but if you look up you notice the line. Once you get a few feet away it blends in nicely. For the rest of the day the birds drove themselves crazy trying to fly at the ledge, encountering the fishing line, and flying off. Could it truly be this easy after all these years? They gave up on the door and stayed on the adjacent window. I immediately ordered enough to do it as well. Next day I had it covered and one month later not a single bird has settled (or pooped) on the porch! All remnants of the nests have been scrubbed away and it has remained that away. FYI we live in the Midwest where we have had several weeks recently of 100° temperatures. The panels are just as securely attached as the day they were installed. I will never be without this product!

We had issues with barn swallows, and had such trouble keeping them away. This took care of the problem instantly. It's been about a month and they aren't back.

These don't work its just piece of plastic and fishing line the house Martins just fly through it and build there nest in it they definitely don't work I bought 3 of them and took them down there no use at all.

Bats flew behind it and are still there. Didn't work and expensive for such a simple product.

Sadly this product didn’t work. The swallows built a nest behind it !! Persistent little chaps !!

The fast delivery is all I can give this item. Swallows are still building nests within the area, it doesn't seem to be stopping them at all.
