CONSTRUCTED TO FAIL.Bought 6 Global Trademark, LLC. Bar stools with back through Amazon Jan, 2017. In Nov. of 2017, a friend was sitting on one when two screws holding one side of the back to the stool pulled out. His feet fly up into the air, the screws fall to the floor.Closer inspection revealed that rather than attach the back metal brace using all 6 of the ¼-20 T-nuts provided, someone on the shop floor attached one side of the back metal brace for the back to the bottom of the stool using 2 number 12 by 1 ½” sheet metal screws into the ½’ thick OSB base.I found this same assembly shortcut on 5 of the 6 stools that I bought.Of course, a sheet metal screw into ½” thick OSB is a construction method deemed to fail under normal use of the stool and it did fail.I found that by working the metal brace around a bit, aligning the holes to access all 6 of the T-nuts is possible. One might imagine that the assembler lacked the upper body strength to do the right thing. Or one might imagine that the assembler lacked the decency to do the right thing.It further bothers me that number 12 by 1 ½” sheet metal screws were even available on the shop floor. Someone worked to create this assembly option.I called Amazon to complain. “Sorry they are out of warranty.” “But this is a failure brought on by willful misassembly at the factory.” “Sorry.”“MADE BY: Global Trademark, LLC.” is listed on the bottom of the stool. I called them. The woman answering the phone said that they in fact do not manufacture the stools, they just ship them. MADE IN USA is also listed on the bottom of the stool. I asked her if the stools were made in the USA or in China and she answered “I don’t know."I emailed the company on a Monday and gave them until Friday to respond to my problem. I have received no further communication so I am posting this review.I bought American on purpose. The phrase “Screwing your buddy” comes to mind.
