Q: I am thinking of pairing this with the lg wh16ns40 super multi blue blu-ray drive, but don't know what cables i need to connect this to the drive?

All connections for SATA drives are already in the box, so you should need nothing other than the case.

Q: Will this work for the optical drive taken out of my broken Mac book pro (mid 2010)?

Like too many Amazon product descriptions, this one includes multiple products. There is a 9.5mm drive enclosure included that will probably work with the MacBook Pro drive.

Q: Will this allow my laptop to play Blu ray disks?

Yes, as long as you install A Blu-ray drive and have playback software on your laptop. This unit does not come with a drive installed. That's a separate purchase.
