Q: The more expensive crimpers crimp around the hose, this one crimps vertically down the hose. Does the crimp hold up without leaking?

I have used this on air lines at work that run all day and no leaks.

Q: Will this work on 1/4 pressure washer hose?

NO..it will not. You need to have a professional company that uses a hydraulic hose press. That tool is for LOW pressure 100lbs of PSI or less. Pressure washers start at 1000lbs psi
