Cheap and easy fix for 4x4 problem
I was having an issue on my 2015 F-150 with the front hubs not totally disengaging which could cause grinding noise especially when turning. I found online that this vacuum switch was most likely the culprit so for $8 I ordered one to give it a shot. The purpose of it is to allow air to flow one direction but block it going the other to hold in the vacuum. On the new one I tried this out sucking on one end which allowed air and then the other way which allowed nothing. Once pulling out the old one I did the same test. Ok on the side which is supposed to let air through but on the other side it was only partially blocking the air which would keep the vacuum from being as strong as it should be.Went for a test drive after swapping it out and all seemed good.

IWE Issues
This was recommended for my IWE issues. It did not resolve them and I'm not sure if it is this part or something else. It seems to work fine through testing and looks oem.

Do not worry if this is not listed for your vehicle.
I have a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII that never had the vacuum canister hooked up properly, The canister existed but did not store vacuum. It turns out that the way it was hooked up, the check valve (the factory one is small and the replacements don't work half the time) was hooked directly to the AC/Heater unit rather than between the vacuum canister and the vacuum source. This unit works solidly, the tiny ones that Dorman sells for this car, often do not work, the little flap doesn't seal. With this one, it works every time all the time. I no longer have my AC start going out the defrosters on hills nor have to wait for a few minutes after starting the vehicle for it to shift to the correct outputs.I would recommend this purely based on if the nipple sizes will work with your tubing and nothing else. 15" of vacuum does not care whether it comes from a Ford Modular, a Chrysler Hemi or a GM LS motor. A check valve either allows one way flow or if defective, allows flow in both directions or no flow at all. This one is positive and holds it's ground.

Fixed IWE grinding after Dorman one wasn’t working
My IWEs were making a lot of noise, even after wheel bearings and actuators were replaced (they were also bad). I put a Dorman one on and it didn’t fix anything. Before I started replacing other parts I ordered this and it fixed the grinding noise. It’s been 3 weeks now and still no noises. Try this OEM one FIRST!!!

Just In Case
Knowing that a lot of people with Ford F-150s have had problems with the IWE I decided to have one of these available in my tool kit in case I ran into the issue needing a replacement check valve. I've had no trouble with my IWE and I only bought this to have as a Just In Case part. This one is a Motorcraft and bench tested fine so into the kit it goes.

Fixes Ford Explorer Vent Issues
If your 2007 Explorer is blowing cold air out the defroster vents instead of the dash vents, replace this. located on the firewall on passenger side. These check valves somwhow "go bad" and stop holding vaccum.
