I bought others but they were either thin metal and would twist while using or bend at the hinge or in the middle, or the inner seam of the arms would catch the scrubby side of the sponge when you would hand wash them, or if you put them into the dishwasher, they would rust, or they would have cheap flat metal springs or thin wire springs that would rust or break after a month or two.These have handles that are bigger and thicker, don't have the inner seam that is tight and grabs the sponge, the spring in the handle is a thicker wire and the hinge has got a thicker rivet and is more robust.They just feel heavier and have a good quality feel to them for their price point.In the pictures you can see the difference between another pair that are better quality then some but not quite as good as these. There is the size difference of the handles, the difference of a coil spring and a flat spring, the hinge and rivet difference (the cheaper ones you can see they are starting to bend and twist), and how the inner seam grabs the scouring pad of the sponge.

I knew they would too, making things worse. Amazon's entire kitchen offerings are flooded with cheaply made Chinese crap, and these were no exception. The hinge on one of them gave after... I dunno, maybe three uses, tops? It's trash now. I still have a few more but I won't be shocked when they break. Save your money, go find quality tongs somewhere else.

Sometime between now and when I bought my last pair o' tongs, 20 years ago, they changed the style of the locking mechanism from the sliding clip to an annoying tabby/button thing on the end. Tried the new style, hated how you couldn't repeatedly open and close them one handed...finally decided to tough it out with my old grotty tongs until I could find a replacement.Finally, at long last, my search is over! I love these. They're well made for the price and handle exactly how I want them to handle.

Upon receiving these tongs, I checked to see if they are stainless steel as advertised, and I could not find any stamped markings on any of the tongs indicating that they are stainless steel. Additionally, a magnet had as strong bond to each pair of tongs which indicates they may be chrome plated steel, or a very low grade of stainless steel. Time will tell whether or not they rust with use and washings.

I had a couple of pairs of tongs, in a similar design, but I kept running out - with just two pairs, they're dirty more often than they're clean, it seems. So, ordering four more pairs, in two sizes, has made things much easier in my kitchen. They work well, the retaining rings aren't too loose, and they're just right for basic cooking needs. They're not fancy, but they're not supposed to be fancy - they're supposed to be useful, and they are indeed that.

Very lightweight. These are about the same quality as what you would get as disposables if you ordered barbecue for a party, from a takeout place.All the edges are extremely sharp and it's way too easy to catch your fingers in it during use.I returned them for credit.

These are great for using with the grill because they are all metal & won't melt or lose firmness from heat. The smaller ones are perfect for indoor cooking & tossing salad veggies.

I love the length of these tongs, and with three to a package, they are an excellent value. The lock is easy to operate with just a wave of the tong, and the teeth on the tongs are nicely aligned so strips of bacon, etc, can be easily gripped. I'd been putting off looking for replacement tongs for several months even though I was constantly frustrated by my old set, but happily I ran across this offering! I would definitely recommend these!

I thought that I am going to have that part as long as it's biggest one but I only got 12" inches as I am looking for about 17 inches.
