REED Leather Scraps from Garment Leather Cutting (1 Pounds Mostly Black)

The lot contained only one nice piece of leather about 10in x 10 in. The rest was a poor selection of small scraps that that will be hard to use for anything except patching. A lot of 2x3 inch triangles and rectancles. I am not returning this because I am a beginner leather hobbyist and will use the small stuff eventually. "Mostly black" is not accurate for my lot; it was all black.

Sadly the majority of this bag appears to be unusable. Some pieces were ripped out of something and are completely frayed and useless - one even had a staple still attached. Other pieces are in better condition but have holes and cutouts that look strategically placed to guarantee there are no more than 2 square inches of usable space. Like other people commented, some pieces are just strings of torn and ripped leather. Despite that, there are 2-3 good, large pieces of quality leather mixed in. One is about 12 inches by 3-4 inches, another is about an 8 inch square, and the winner is 3-4 foot by 5 inch piece. I am giving 3 stars here, instead of 2, because of the larger usable pieces and the cheap price.

I thought these were great! When it was all unfurled my pack contained the following:2 dark brown pieces (10"x10'x13" triangle; 8"x7" rectangle)5 honey tan pieces (3 nice 7"x10" rectangles; 2 smaller 3"x5" pieces)5 black pieces (2 palm-sized squares; 2 circles approx. 4" diameter; 1 rectangle approx. 11"x5")1 heaping handful of leather strings! All strips of same materials/colors as above, great for ties, lacing or fringes. Probably 30 strips, 1 to 2 feet in length.(All of those sizes above are usable estimates, by the way, almost all pieces have odd-shaped edges, may need trimming.)So many disappointed reviews on this...I just wanted some scraps to make small leather carrying cases, I scored big in this bag! I could make a decent baseball glove with what I got. These are nice pieces, too, and a wide variety of textures and thickness. Most are softer, so don't think of building a horse saddle with what's in here...but I'm seeing wallets, journal covers...heck, you could make a sweet (and unique!) handbag with a little stitching and imagination.It's a bag of scraps, luck o' the draw, who knows what you'll get--but I'll definitely be buying these again. For the hobbyist leather crafter this is a great source of goodies and ideas.

I had hoped I'd be able to toss some of these pieces on the floor to distract my puppy from chewing on my shoes. I was wrong. There's lots of leather in this package, sufficient for sling shots,craft hinges, small leather projects and as cowboy perfume. Rub some of this stuff under your arms after a hot, sweaty day fixing fences. You'll find flies (and cowgirls) will circle around you hoping for a place to land. Go for it!

SADLY this was not a great deal. The scraps are entirely too small or narrow. I wanted to make a coin purse or cell phone cover w/them; Hoping they would be 4"or 5 in. None of the pieces were large enough to make anything with, and no 2 of a kind to be able to piece together. Not sure what you would actually use these for; but it certainly was not worth the $12.00 I paid for it. I scrapped these right into the trash, your local leather shop would easily give these away for free. Start there first.

Most pieces are very small. There's much better available out there, you just have to search a little. In fairness there was also couple ok pieces.

I got what I paid for but expected fresher leather for the aroma. Great delivery time and price but will not provide the results I wanted but that is probably my expectations, not theirs.

Although most of the pieces in this grab bag are small, there were a few sizable pieces as well. I've been able to bind two books with the bigger pieces, as well as creating some nice trims and ornaments with the smaller ones. Every piece is high quality leather, supple and not dried out, and there is a wide variety of tones, in the grey, black and brown spectrum. I've bought some larger pieces of leather from this vender too, and have found them to be fast on the delivery, and accurate in their descriptions of what you are getting. I highly recommend this vender.
