Atwood 36720 Hydro LPG Leak Detector

After reading some bad reviews because the date of manufacturer stamped on the unit was not the current year sold. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, Date of manufacturer has nothing to do about the expiration. These are good for 84 months after YOU power them up. Mine is dated 2015, it's 2020, SO WHAT. I read the instructions it will last 84 months from 02- 2020 because that's when it was powered up.I do not understand people nowadays, many will not read instructions, warranties or contracts and then complain.Install takes 5 minutes if you have your wire cutters and screw driver ready. I got 94 months out of old one before it started chirping.

I bought this to replace my Atwood ProTECHtor Series 2001 Leak Detector. Amazon had the best price that I was able to find. This detector is physically smaller than the Series 2001 and the Adapter Mount Plate Model 35181 was NOT included. The detector was manufactured on Feb 25, 2016 so was almost 1 year old when I received it. I contacted Atwood Mobile and they sent me the Adapter Mount Plate. After I installed it, I found that if you pushed on the detector hard enough you could push it into the wall. I added some duct tape to the legs on the back of the detector trim to keep the legs from spreading out. Hopefully that will fix it.

Bought to replace an Atwood series 2001. The 2001 cannot be found so this was the closest replacement. I was able to use the housing ring from the original 2001 to make this unit work. See photos on how I used double screws.

Atwood promised this was exact fit replacement for their Series 2001. It is a replacement..but not exact fit.The adapter is included...however it is designed for a small hole, and is insufficiently large to fit the hole for the Series 2001.Using the included screws cut down short, and a hot glue gun for addt'l security, this adaptor will fit into the Series 2001 adaptor,and then it fits the original hole an looks good.Four stars given only because of this adaptor misrepresentation. The LP gas detector is good quality, however, and an easyreplacement. Two, crimp-style butt-connectors are needed to complete the install.

This is almost a direct replacement for the older Model 2001, except that it is smaller than the hole left by the 2001. I ended up doing the same thing that another reviewer did, mount this detector's mounting plate to the old detector's mounting plate. Also, the fingers on this detector's mounting plate will not hold the detector in place, they are too weak. When you push on the Test button the detector pushes through and falls inside the hole. The other reviewer used duct tape, I used zip ties to compress the fingers tightly around the detector to keep it from pushing through. Other than that it's a straight-forward replacement using the existing 12V wiring.

I noticed our old unit started beeping. Didn’t realize what’s all involved so I pulled out the owners manual. Come to find out the unit only last eight years. It alarms at the end of it’s life. There are no batteries to change. You have to unscrew the unit and unplug the power supply. This unit came with instructions so it was easy enough. No more alarm beeping now!

This one is working fine. Pay attention to the dates. The manufacturer recommends replacement at specified intervals. Our original started giving a malfunction alarm (amber light). I bought a replacement from a local travel trailer dealer. The price was right--the date wasn't. After it malfunctioned I realized it was older than the original that came with the trailer. This detector bought through Amazon has solved the problem. It probably helps that the travel trailer is 3 years old--there should be less solvents and adhesive chemicals in the air which could reduce the service life of the detector. After you read the online reviews and info out there; you realize these things can be a hassle to keep operational--but considering the hazard they protect us from--don't leave home without it.

Delivery was quick and it arrived in perfect condition. This was actually Atwood's model 36719 which does not come in retail packaging. Being a replacement for an earlier 2002 Atwood LP Detector this model is a bit smaller than its predecessor and it does not come with Atwood's 35181 white adapter plate to make it fit the larger opening of their earlier model. It works great, but I had some trouble locating a source for the adapter plate so that it looks like original equipment. Our LP detector is recessed in the wall and the adapter plate makes it look like a factory installation.

Good idea to supply a installation bracket if you are replacing The older unit.The bracket is very cheap and the unit might just fall inside the wall if Youpush the Test button to hard.

Easy to install just hook up to old wires and slide it on the old bracket, didn't need the adapter bracket supplied.

Thisis what I was looking for to replace the old one. Slightly smaller that the older model, but it still comes with a harness to place in the old hole.

These are a bit expensive but with the included adapter it fit into the original hole from my 2001 unit perfectly.

Easy to install and now we are once again safe in our RV.
