Monarch Specialties3 Drawer File Cabinet - Filing Cabinet (Dark Taupe)

This piece is beyond sturdy! Two top drawers are extremely roomy, with a full file draw on the bottom. Husband put it together, and it did take some time. I reminded him of putting the drawer rails in position before the full drawers (saw that from another posting, thanks!). The brown color is nice, but conflicts with my country cherry desk a bit. In hindsight, I would have ordered the taupe (disliked the chrome handles) but as standard 8" could have been replaced. I highly recommend this cabinet.

Just love the file cabinet especially that rolling wheel on the bottom file drawer that gives support when you extend the file drawer all the way out. The top of the cabinet is where I placed my computer printer which works well for me. My main problem was not reading the assembly instructions directed to. As a result I put the drawer slider brackets on upside down and couldn't figure out why the drawers just would not slide in and out properly. Had to have a son make a house call. He looked it over and said. You have installed the slider brackets upside down. I was never so glade that it wasn't something I had glued. Amen.

Somehow I missed the “assembly required” aspect— I thought I was receiving an assembled unit. Luckily, I enjoy this type of challenge and challenge it was. I put on my Amazing Race imagination and dug in. There is a LOT going on in the #small diagrams and no written explanations at all. Took a couple of hours, and patience galore, to put together and by the way, some important hardware is packed in the wheels package and not in the hardware package! Looks nice with one major flaw... I mistook the need to insert the file hanging bars before I glued, doll rodded, and bracketed the bottom drawer. Mistook the rods in the diagram mere diagram “lines”. Luckily we didn’t need the hanging file folder aspect because that was not going to happen at this late point in the process without complete disassembly of the drawer and likely busting wood as the glue had set. And there was no forcing those things in now for sure. So. Seems like a solid little unit. Looks nice. Drawers glide well.PSA!!!! Challenging. “AssemblyRequired”!!!!

The media could not be loaded.  I have constructed the outer box given much care not to over tighten screws and careful with all parts and the material still failed to hold up during assembly. Haven't decided yet whether I will finish it and keep it with the flaw. Disappointed.

I agree that the install for this office furniture is a major pain in the neck (I got the desk, file cabinet, and console table)! The desk took me about 6 hours, the file cabinet took about 1.5 hours, and I have yet to put the console table together as it arrived damaged and I'm waiting for a replacement. All of that being said, the furniture is quite attractive. But it isn't high quality, being MDF and thin veneers. For the price, however, it's pretty good. I'm disappointed that the file-cabinet drawer rubs against the bottom of the drawer above. The pre-drilled holes for the drawer slides are not properly placed and as such, the bottom drawer is too high, or the middle drawer is too low or something. The point being that they rub together. Ugh! I do like the addition of the caster beneath the file cabinet, since file cabinets can get very heavy. The caster provides extra support while the drawer is opened. Hopefully that will help it last. The file cabinet on the desk is already starting to fail, as it doesn't have that extra support, present on this unit.Note - one reviewer said that the file cabinet doesn't fit regular or legal folders and that is just not correct. It fits either just fine. They simply need to be placed inside Pendaflex folders (duh - that's how file cabinets work!). Those have the tabs that fit over the metal bars. The actual file folders are placed inside the Pendaflex folders.

I needed a small file cabinet and this works perfectly. Since it will roll I can move it if needed. I also use it as a side table next to my chair. So it fits between the chair and my desk. The two drawers at the top are definitely not deep enough for large items, but I have found they work great to keep small things from cluttering up the area. The file drawer is perfect for my needs. It can be used for large or small hanging files just be sure you know which you want to use before you finish putting it together. Had a small blemish on one corner of the top when package was opened, but I decided I could live with it.
