TopLink 8-Port Gigabit Switch - Highly Recommended
I have been working in IT for over 35+ years. I currently work for a brand name computer company in their IT department providing senior level technical support. Obviously this means I work with enterprise level routers, switches, network equipment and main frame computers. I must admit that I was highly sceptical about an 8-port gigabit switch for this price. So sceptical, that I bought 4, when I only needed 2. I figured at this price, if the first 2 fail after a month, I'll have a couple of spares. I must say, that after receiving and using this product, that I'm highly impressed. As already mentioned in other reviews, this switch has a steel case, very small foot print, high quality RJ-45 connectors on the rear, a fairly small external power supply (keeps case cool), and LEDs on the front to determine link/port speed for each port. All ports are autosensing and auto uplink. This switch is an unmanaged switch, which means there is no configuration to setup, just plug and play. I currently have 3 of the switches setup on my home network with a varity of devices connected at various speeds (10/100/1000). I plugged them in 6 months ago and all 3 have been working flawlessly ever since. No reboots, no port speed issues, nothing. Earlier I mentioned I was highly impressed with this switch. After 6 months of use, I still am impressed. I have recommeded this switch to my co-workers and would highly recommed this switch for any small business and home network.TopLink 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch - 10/100/1000 MbpsTopLink 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch - 10/100/1000 Mbps

The switch works fine the charger that comes with it was dead on arrival
I used this switch to hard wire all the cable in my house. It was easy to use and is working as we speak. The charger was dead when it arrived and the good news was that I had a similar charger left over from a previous use.

Excellent Product
I purchased this gigabyte switch because I needed to split a signal on a LAN runI only needed a two port switch but at this price I would be a fool not to buy an 8 port switch keeping in mind future expansionThe switch is awesome. I have gigabyte speeds on this cable run without problems and plenty of ports for further expansionI was surprised at how small physically the switch was - I expected it to be normal size (it is about half the size) but that wasn't a problemThe only issued I can find with it is the fact it doesn't have mounting slots on the back for mounting on a wallI would highly recommend it to anyone with a need for an inexpensive gigabyte switchI am very satisfied with this purchase even though I have only had it for a couple weeks

Power cable inoperative
Power cable did not work. I luckily had one available to even use it. I should have spent a little more and got something that would probably last a little longer.

Bad Switch, great return service.
I ordered this switch mainly due to positive reviews on Amazon. However, when I first opened the box, one screw fell out. I recognized the circuit board was not secured in the case. So I decided not to try it out and requested to return it to Amazon the same day.I would give one star for the switch. However, I give it one more star for Amazon's great return service.

works just as expected
i bought an n-router to boost my wifi speeds, so i figured i should probably upgrade my wire speed from 100mpbs as well. this switch was my first attempt at gigabit lan in my home. so far, it's doing its job.i have two pc's, an nas device, and my wifi router all hooked in through this switch. instantly, i noticed an increase in wire transfer speed to/from the nas, but only from ~8mBps to ~15mBps. while this wasn't the increase i was looking for, it is still an increase, and is proof that i'm getting speeds higher than what 10/100 can offer.since this switch is unmanaged, i know there's not a setting internally that is holding it back. the switch is almost definitely not the issue, which is why i'm not knocking off a star on the rating. so i have a bit more research to do to figure out what is causing the bottleneck. i've toyed around with flow control, frame size, and a couple other properties, but have yet to discover the culprit(s). any suggestions?

It works
Hard to say about these things. It works properly, never seems to go down. This is not any type of thing that you might get excited about, only if it did not work. It's a simple connector and that's it.

Super Easy To Install
Here are the advantages and disadvantages with this product...ADVANTAGES.1. An 8-port Ethernet switch for $30 is a steal..2. The unit is very small and encased in a steel case..3. It is super easy to install - just plug the Ethernet cables into the back ports and the AC cord into the electrical wall socket. No software is needed - it just works...DISADVANTAGES.1. TopLink is not as well known as Cisco, Netgear, and other competing companies. . . . In fact, I was hesitant to buy until buyer reviews convinced me otherwise..2. There was a slight drop in internet speed.
