FRYE Men's Prison Combat Boot

I was feverishly looking for a "short" pair of quality motorcycle boots as I have skinny ankles for a 5'11" 180lb man. I have Frye engineer boots, Made in England 8 eye Dr. Martens and 8" Chippewa raw leather boots. These Frye Prison boots are the very best I have found for my needs. They will last me an eternity with proper care. Perfect height just above the ankle, similar to a my desert boots. I bought black, they were more money, but great quality with NO break in period required. They are a dress shoe size, NOT a sneaker size (sneakers are generally a full size larger than a dress shoe). For instance, I wear a 9.5 Adidas, 10 Nike and 10 Reebok sneakers,,,,I wear a 9 in all dress shoes I own.I hope this review helps, I continually look for this kind of info myself.

A solid, nicely made boot, but an odd design... kinda a cross between a chukka, a hiking boot, and a normal 6" boot. They're slightly lower than 6" and the lacing comes quite far forward on the boot, resulting in a slightly shorter toe section than normal for 6" combat-style boots. I'd say they fit on the normal to slightly narrow side, especially in the heel (I have narrow feet and they fit fine with no heel slippage). Size them the same as other boots -- a half to one size smaller than your actual size. I'm a Brannock size 11, wear 11.5 or 12 in running shoes, and 10.5 in all my boots (Frye and Red Wing).I knocked couple of stars off because I had to return the boots due to the fact that they didn't appear to be a matched pair -- the toe on the left one (from end of laces to tip of boot) was noticeably longer than the other, even through they were both size 10.5, and the grain of the leather was noticeably different on each shoe. I don't know if the fault is with Frye or the retailer is selling seconds, but for a top of the line boot I'd expect QC to be a lot better than this.

Based on other reviewer's comments, I ordered these in the same size as my dress shoes. I got a perfect fit. There was also no break-in period; I have worn these boots every day since receiving them (now two weeks) with no issues whatsoever. These are very high quality boots, I am extremely pleased with my purchase, and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to others.

It fits snug but to size. I have wider feet so it was slightly narrow for me but that was expected.The boot is gorgeous but they didnt need to freckle/distress the leather...looks like the leather was pecked at.it would have looked fine, as is. But a little mink oil to polish and it looks great !They are great to walk in and can imagine wearing them for hours ( I did my first night with no issue).They are slightly hard to get your foot into (no tab at the back) and they are snug as I mentioned before... but I think thats me just breaking them in.So far I love these boots!

I love the look of these boots, they look better in person then they do online. The old school look and quality are outstanding. The fit is excellent. I ordered them half a size bigger just in case and I'm glad I did. I am very pleased with this purchase. Pricey but worth it! Great delivery time. I think with time they will only get better and more comfortable. Authentic feel and look. LOVE MY NEW BOOTS!

Top quality boot made in USA got the dark brown at bargain price with holiday discount.Leather laces soften with wear and the boot does also.Im a 9.5DM,and they fit perfect.Thanks Amazon.

I own 2 pairs. I ordered 1/2 size down and the shoes fit nicely.. They are a bit pricey but they appear to wear wll.

My wife and daughter feel Frye boots are the most comfortable boots available. So, I finally tried them and they are 100% correct. There was no break-in period for me. They are soft and very comfortable. The first day I got them, I wore them about 14 hours. Love these boots. Looking to buy another pair.

the buyer showed size of boots 9.5 UK (43.5 EU) but the true size of boots are 10 US and it is only 9UK(43EU). and for that I have sent the boots back. those boots will buy only that which want to have a boots 43 EU 10 US or 9 UK

Totally awesome shoes. Made in America too which is very rare nowadays. I got it for $124CAD! That is one good bargain I can't pass on. I have to get more of these Frye boots before they stop making them in USA.

I usually wear 9.5 in dress shoes and ordered size 9. The boots fit perfectly. Also note, I have standard width feet i.e. D.
