Harvester Ants Nest with sand bed Hybrid Nest Ant Farm Formicarium Complete Beginner Set

I’ve been in the hobby of ant keeping for about a decade or so and I’m very impressed with this kit, as I thought it was a great time to start fresh having my previous Lasius Niger colony passed away after nearly 8 years.I’ve always wanted to have a go at a Messor Species and Messor Barbarus is a great species to start with considering they are well documented and very easy to keep.My colony came with about 30-40 workers from what I can count, all alive and accounted for, set up the out world and nest, connected the test tube and within a week they were happily settled in, enjoying the extra space, fascinating to watch them store seeds in designated granary chambers.Very well packaged with helpful instructions, I recommend this set and species to any beginner looking to get into ant keeping.

The only negative about this nest is that it is too big for a new colony. In terms of the nest itself it is great, you dont need to hydrate it constantly, its never had any issues with mold which is a first for any formicarium, there's nothing i can think of which needs adding to this that wouldn't be purely a luxury, its a good piece of kit!
