Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL Tandem Kayak

This kayak performs great and met all expectations with respect to performance and handling. However, I was a little disappointed in the lesser quality of "fit and finish" compared to the three older Ocean kayaks we have owned. There are many slight imperfections and "waves" in the molding. These are mostly on the top, purely cosmetic, and of no significance as far as performance. Nothing is manufactured with the precision and attention to detail that it was in times past. Sadly, most products aren't near as durable and reliable as they were in the past. Hopefully that will not be the case with this kayak. With technology being so much more advanced in every aspect than it was in decades past we should be producing higher quality products than ever before. Having whined about all that, it HAS performed up to Ocean standards, at least for the short couple of months we have owned it.

We bought 2 of these kayaks to use with our kids (10 and 12 now) about 2 years ago. They have gotten a lot of use and held up like new. They are so stable and comfortable. (Be sure to buy seat backs) They are also a bit heavy, so if you have a long walk to your launch site, consider buying or making a kayak cart out of PVC. Back Country had excellent customer service-we had a minor issue when they arrived and the response was prompt and the staff was very courteous.
