Van GoghWatercolor Paint, 10ml Tube, Dusk Yellow 230

Fantastic color. It's actually a dusky shade of green, great for plants and landscapes. It also granulates nicely which is a bonus for me!

This is a very granulating paint and the tones range from green to yellow. It is beautiful and a little bit added to a similar color adds just enough granulation to make the color more interesting.

I absolutely love dusk yellow. It’s beautifully granulating and seems to have yellow and black pigments which appear as a very earthy green. It’s a bit similar to one of my very favorite greens, “undersea green” but with a tad more yellow hue. I find that the granulating features in this paint are exciting! I use this color for earthy landscapes and trees. Dusk yellow is semi opaque and very resistant to fading. LOVE IT!

Van Gogh Dusk Yellow — a quality student level paint that, as most Van Gogh paints, performs above its pay grade. This is a two pigment color, comprised of the granulating PBk11 (aka Mars Black, Lunar Black) and PY128, an unusual pigment for watercolor that almost no other brand uses. Swatching and some experimenting did result in beautiful granulation when optimally diluted. You really need to play with this paint to get a feel for it. I was disappointed that there is precious little yellow to be found after drying. Instead, a muted green tends to dominate. For my tastes, it’s just too dark and the yellow I was hoping for is elusive. I’m not sure how I might use this interesting color in my painting.This is my opinion based on my tastes, and others may embrace Dusk Yellow. It certainly is … interesting. I paid $6 for this tube at the local art store, and at that price point, why not try it. I’ll find some use for it, I’m sure. But not my favorite paint.
