It’s the perfect kit for a beginner like me.no frustration with any parts highly recommend it

The quality of the plastic is absolutely phenomenal, although paint doesn't like to stick to it well so I'd recommend using an airbrush! But still, this is a great model, and it was my first Tamiya kit

三連装砲塔の主砲を３基、艦橋の前方に配置する独特のプロポーションを持つ英戦艦ロドネイ。重量感あふれるこの船のウォーターラインを最初に作ったのは今から30年前でした。再制作に挑戦です。当時付属していた接着剤は別売りですね。現在の常識ですので仕方ありません。当時と金型が違うかどうかは不勉強で知らないのですが、砲塔は最近主流のプラキャップを軸にはめ込む事による可動ではなく「焼いた釘を軸の裏から押し付けて下さい」という原始的な指示でしたので、旧金型なのかもしれません。ちなみに、他のウォーターライン(軽巡洋艦時代の熊野)制作であまったプラキャップを主砲に流用したらキチンとはまりました。甲板はタミヤカラーのデッキタン、艦体はライトシーグレイという塗装指定（進水初期）。別に、迷彩図と塗装指示も設計図に載っています。いずれにせよ、甲板には微細な構造物が多いですので、これの塗り分けが大変。エアブラシ派はマスキングに、筆塗り派は細筆での塗装に１〜２日はかかると覚悟しておきましょう。加えて甲板と艦体が一体構造ですので、甲板の縁の部分の塗り分けにもかなりの神経を使います。また、艦橋構造物は入り組んでいて組み付け後は筆や塗料が届きにくくなりますので、塗装手順をじっくりと練ったほうがよさそうです。この艦橋を含めて、副砲、機銃などゴマ粒大の部品がとにかく多数。往年のプラモ少年が再挑戦する際にはルーペと精密ピンセットもご準備下さい。ともあれ、組み上げると非常に均整のとれた艦影が出来上がります。お奨めです。

As usual tamiya makes very good models with a high amount of detail set in, naturally I was brought in since HMS Nelson/Rodney are one of my favourite shipsBut there are some real problems with this kit mainly the use of very very small parts, for example the range finders on the main guns you have to put on yourself, there is a small slot for them tho it is extremely fiddlyand be warned the parts for the rear communications tower are very fragile and are essentially small thin strands this was my first 1/700 ship tho I am used to making planes and tanks and quite frankly it was too hard for me which is a shame as the molding of the parts are top notch and the kit doesn't have that many parts in totalJust fiddly

とにかく変態的な主砲の構成なので買ってみました。大きさは重巡なみてパーツも少なめでした。素組でしたが塗装は迷いました。ロドネイのだと複雑で失敗しそうな予感がしたので姉妹艦のネルソンのにしました。ごめんねロドネイ
