An affordable J-45-style slope shoulder dreadnought that punches way above its weight!
Fantastic guitar for the money. In fact, may be the best sub $1000 guitar that I’ve ever played. You would not know based on the tones this guitar produces that it has a laminate back and sides. Handles both fingerstyle and aggressive strumming with impressive dynamic range. In fact, I’d venture to say that it matches the Gibson J-45 Standard in just about every category but the high end (could use a little more in that department, but definitely not a deal breaker). Guild was going for a vintage vibe here, and the construction, styling and finishing touches are spot on. Mine did require a truss rod adjustment and a slight shave off the saddle out of the box due to a few upper fret dead spots and an action that was a little higher than I like, but was a relatively cheap and easy fix. Long story short, if you’re looking for a high quality slope shouldered dread but don't make C-suite money… look no further.

Great guitar
I have owned Yamaha and Ibenez acoustic guitars. This Guild DS-240 is definitely a notch up in quality of sound.

What a Great Deal!
There are lots of pictures of this guitar online, but check out Alamo Music on youtube and watch Cooper Greenberg playing it. This guitar is very capable. On top of that , it's even more beautiful than I thought it would be. It's difficult to see in pictures but the headstock logo is inlaid mother of pearl and so is the rosette . The Tobacco burst with its high gloss finish is simply beautiful. The playability is so nice with low action and the tone is lovely. You can tell someone actually did a set up on it, and with a 24.75 inch scale its very comfortable to play. It is an understated yet elegant guitar. If someone didn't know the cost of it, they would assume it was much more expensive than what it is. You Don't need to spend a fortune for a great Guitar!

Incredible Value
I've never been more pleased with a guitar purchase except perhaps my 016 Strat or my 77 LP. I've owned a Gib^&* G45 at three times the cost, and as soon as I laid my hands on this Guild, I sold off that other guitar and this became my number one. Now I know the 45 is a classic dating back to pre-WWI years, but they are still being made today, and are not cheap despite using some very basic materials in manufacture. This Guild is everything those guitars are and more. The neck is fast and easy, the top is extremely resonant with just the right amount of lo-mid-high balance, the finish is a beautiful gloss that shines up like a mirror, yet the neck is matte to avoid stickiness. I just love the look and aesthetic of the slope shoulder design; It doesn't feel like a dreadnaught, yet has the voicing of one. If you are in the market for one of these and can't decide between the Gib*&^ and the Guild, I say pop for the Guild. They are the best kept guitar secret out there, and if Guilds are good enough for Fahey, they're good enough for me!

Impressed
Out of the box, all factory setup, and jammed on this guitar for 3 hours. I could not find any cosmetic flaws, love the look, plays well, and sounds really good for the money. Lacking a little in the low end but a nice overall balance for strumming and finger picking.
