Excellent sound for an excellent price.
When I purchased this ukulele as a gift, I was concerned that the cliched hippie logo over the sound hole would impair the acoustics. This fortunately proved to not be an issue. The sound is wonderful, almost deep, and more resonant than other uke's I've heard (save for baritones). The instrument is well-balanced, its laser etched imagery on the top is subtle compared to how it appears in online photos (the recessed letters are not actually stained darker than the top contrary to photos). The recipient of the uke I purchased has been very pleased with its performance. It also received very positive feedback from a visiting professional musician who played around with it.This ukulele is on the large side, so it seems to be easiest to play while sitting, not standing. The "gig" bag that comes with the uke is nothing more than a fairly thin foam covering that zips up. It prevents scratches and will provide some padding during shipping, but it is not sturdy enough to protect the instrument while running from gig to gig. The zipper on the bag I received was defective - it would slide without clasping. I contacted Luna about this, and they kindly and quickly sent a replacement... that had the same zipper problem. This is not a big deal since an instrument as nice as this one definitely deserves its own hard case for moving around; just know the "gig" bag is a bit of a gimick: helpful for shipping, but not too useable once you get your instrument. All in all, the Maluhia is a great instrument that will calm all but the most irritable folks even if someone is just tinkering around with it as practice. If every uke sounded like this, I doubt they ever would've fallen out of popularity.

2 years later ....
I have had my Luna Ukulele for over 2 years now. Actually, I have 3 Lunas: The Soprano (sea turtle design), The Concert (Ocean wave tattoo design), and I also have the Tenor (Peace sign design). I could only find a photo of the ocean wave one. Sorry. Anyways, I decided to give my Tenor Ukulele to my sister as a gift and get myself a more expensive one. I went out and spent $250 on an Oscar Schmidt Spalted Maple Tenor with electric pickup and cutaway. The Oscar Schmidt's sound was so muffled. It did not project. It's like the sound wasn't able to vibrate and echo around inside for some reason. I'm thinking it must have something to do with the wood?? I can't figure it out. I kept demonstrating to my husband (who is a guitar player) and saying, "Listen! The Luna sounds amazing and makes you want to sing along and you can actually FEEL the music in your soul. But the Oscar makes me want to whisper sing and just go through the motions like a robot." And that is when I realized what a quality instrument Luna is. The sound on the Luna has always been phenomenal! Also, it holds a tune. Every time I attempt to tune it, it is already in tune.

Stunning! 😍
This is my first Ukulele and it’s absolutely beautiful in every way! The finish is gorgeous, the tone is rich and it was easy to learn two songs the first day! (I’m Yiurs, and Over the rainbow). I collect musical instruments and play a little. This Peace Uke is a perfect addition to my collection! I love it!

A Collectable Musical Work of Art
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for a musician who collects musical instruments. I really didn't know what to expect because sometimes instruments purchased online can be rather fragile or not well made, but I was just so very pleased when I opened the box to find this beautiful work of art. This is a really well made and artistically designed ukulele. The sound is full. I can't say enough good things about the high quality of the wood. I love the way the inscription adds to the beauty of the mahogany. The musician that I gave this to as a gift has quite a collection of instruments and is very discerning in his choices. He really liked the uniqueness of this ukulele as well as the quality of construction and good sound quality.

Beautiful ukelele!!!
I had my brother get it from the ups guy because I was out of the house when it came. The box looked a little rough but when I opened it there was paper surrounding ANOTHER box. Then I opened that box and saw the use gig bag. Opened the bag and the use was wrapped in, you guessed it, MORE PAPER. Lol there is absolutely not a thing wrong with it. I saw a ton of reviews saying the gig bags zipper broke but I haven't seen a problem with it yet. The words are engraved into the wood, the strings are (I think) Aquila, and I love the feel of it. I have one other uke but this one is definitely my favorite now. Absolutely beautiful. I love it so much.

Not a good idea to buy instruments online
This uku is okay. It was not as good as I was hoping for. The tuning pegs are not the best quality, and when you get all the strings tuned perfectly they sound good together when open strumming. When you play chords it sounds like the uku is out of tune. Check the tuning and it is still in tune. Unless you have near perfect, or perfect, pitch you may not notice. But for the price range it is in, it is actually decent. After this I don't think I will ever buy an instrument online again. Each instrument, even ones built to the same specs, plays and sounds slightly different. Had I had a chance to hold and play this uku, I would not have bought it... but I have near perfect pitch. If you are the type to sing out of tune loudly and not notice or care, then this uku is for you. If you are like me, and you want tape shut the mouths of people who sing out of tune, or smash the guitars of players who don't know how to properly tune a guitar... then look elswhere and don't buy anything unles you can hold it and play it first. No disrespect meant to anyone here, especially the makers of the ukulele... I'm sure they mean well and are good people.
