One of my favorite items in this entire world
I don't just like this thing. I absolutely love it. I used to have the 20" floor version a long time ago. I decided to get the smaller 14" multi-mount this time around. Air Kings are not just a fan. They are a lifestyle must-have, well for me anyway. It helps me in so many ways: helps me drown out noise during the day and at night I sleep with it on, drying my clothes that I've hand washed, keeping cool. And the way it spreads air is very relaxing too. It's not just constant air, it's more like the air is wavy. Kind of like the feeling you get from the wind when you're on a beach.I'm especially drawn to Air Kings because of their industrial look. They have that no-nonsense look about them. The all black, all steel, wide fan blades, and the Air King logo that reminds you it's not just a fan-- it's a "high velocity air circulator" so you know you're dealing with some serious stuff. Also, from an ASMR standpoint, its sound is just so relaxing. It's more like a brown noise than a white noise. It effectively gets rid of any annoying background noises in your environment.I'll tell you why I specifically chose this 14" multi-mount model. First, I usually just put it on the floor. I needed something that's small enough to move around because I like to move it around during the day depending on what I need it for. I especially like the multi-mount because it's good enough for the floor. You prop up the air king with the mount on a 45 degree angle like you would do with a picture frame stand. Yes there are the floor versions, but I prefer the more compact look of the multi-mount. And it's very stable. Also I like the pull chord, it's minimal and serves as a single control for the fan. Another thing I like about the 14" version is it takes the least power of all the models (yes, even less power than the 12" version). And it's only about 2 pounds heavier than the 12" and moves more air. Also I noticed that the 12" versions - some of them have ball bearings and some of them don't. I think the multi-mount 12" has sleeve bearings but the floor one has ball bearings on the newer models, so it's a bit complicated. But with the 14" they all have ball bearings. Also I like the bigger diameter. The bigger Air Kings are obviously nicer but they're not as easy to move, are louder and heavier, and take more power. Anyway, if I were going to a deserted Island I'd have to take this Air King. It's an essential life item. The look, the sound, everything is just so perfect about this.

Very Good Quality 14" Mounted Fan
Air King 9314s are extremely good wall mount fans for the price, but be gentle and pull at the correct angle with the weak speed-changing ball cord.We have now purchased six 9314s over the last decade in addition to two 12" models we no longer prefer. For the primary application, we always sleep with a fan blowing over our us, no matter how cold or warm it is. And we have them in our guest rooms because they don't have AC. We change the speed about four times per year and learned that one has to be very careful with the ball chain-cord or it will break off inside the unit. It's very cumbersome to fix. Tip: The easiest way to "fix" it is to cut a hole in the casing, taking them all the way apart is a HUGE hassle unless you have a machine workshop. The Air King 12" models are much louder to move the same amount of air and seem to last less long. Expect three to five years of perfect constant operation from a 9314 and a year less or so if you turn it on and off frequently. After a few years, they start to develop noises. Use a leaf blower on them one to four times per year to remove the bulk of the dust and hair.We also use them in our business offices to allow us to keep the temperature higher. Some people don't like sitting in moving air, but if you can get used to it, it makes the air temp feel 5-10F cooler. We have only had one actually full fail out of the eight Air Kings we've purchased. We've retired four of the eight for being too noisy for bedrooms, one moved to a place where we don't care about squeaking. As a little background, I also buy and use much more expensive commercial fans for use in agricultural and industrial venting applications. Professionally, I pay about 4-10 times the price of these Air Kings for similar CFM ratings (though they are not exactly one-to-one equivalent). The commercial ones I use have louvers and are designed to be built into walls, etc.If Air King fixed the chain cord angle problem and/or replaced with a switch, these would be much better. Hide the cord from your guests so they don't yank it off by accident.
