Timeless music
Buffalo Springfield was the original super group, giving us Neil Young, Stephen Sills, and RIchie Furay (and Jim Messina). The songs are rock classics. For What It's Worth may be one of the best protest song ever written. Its lyrics are as relevant and applicable to day as they were in the 1960s.

I have always liked Buffalo Springfield so I was happy to run across this CD on Amazon. The sound is great and the songs are the best of this great group from the past. If you are a fan of Buffalo Springfield I am sure you will enjoy going down memory lane.

The Best From One of the Best.
This is one of those groups that didn't quite get all of the recognition that they deserved when they were actually a group. Most people remember Buffalo Springfield for one or two, maybe three hit songs. It wasn't until years later that... people like me... realized how great their music was and still is. One of my favorites is "On the Way Home". Another is "Rock And Roll Woman". And of course there's also "Bluebird", "Mr. Soul", "I Am A Child", "For What It's Worth", and about six more that are great to listen to. You get rock, pop, and folk rock all in one place. I love every song on this CD.

Beginnings
Neal Young, Stephen Stills at the beginning. What more do you need to get involved in the evolution of the California sound in American rock music. This is one of the beginning exhibitions of the evolving of folk, pop, rock into a new sound that paved the way for many groups and bands to build on in the coming years after Buffalo Springfield. Songs like For What its worth define the thinking of a generation. You can't understand the music or the era with out having experienced this.

One of my all-time favorites!
Others have written more eloquent reviews here than I ever could, the only thing I can contribute is that this music takes me RIGHT back to my early teen years in the mid-to-late 60’s (a bit of nostalgia). What impresses me most is the musical talent demonstrated on this collection. Considering the time period (long before all the electronic “gadgets”) this was an extremely talented group that spawned numerous big-name groups: Poco, Loggins & Messina, Crosby, Stills & Nash (later CSNY), Neil Young, Stephen Stills (solo). Just listening closely to the music itself - how tight their sound was, the chord choices, instrumental arrangement on “Expecting to Fly” never fails to impress me, even 45 years later. Just some really great, well put together music by some incredible musicians.

This is the best choice of albums for the Buffalo Springfield
This is the best choice of albums for the Buffalo Springfield. I've always loved Retrospective from the time I was a teenager until now I'm in my sixties and Still Loving It! Bluebird my favorite song is just awesome!

Good selection, but left wanting more
A short list selection of music from such a talented group. A fifth star would have been given for an expanded set of songs

60's/70's music that brings you back just by listening
I purchased this album when it first came out, and just about wore it out playing it all the time. Say what you want about the ego's of the band members, but they really did write and play music for a generation. "I am a child", "Nowadays Clancy", "Expecting to fly", and "Sit down I think I love you", are in my book pieces of an era that sadly is gone by. It was music that you could sing along to, or sit and listen to quietly. The distinct sound of Buffalo Springfield was magic. I still play this CD and I can remember the memories of a time that life was easier, and people were kinder, without having to squeeze into my old patched bluejeans.
