This speaker works great you just have to plug it the right type of jack!
I have seen a few posts with people saying they plugged it in to their scanner and the volume is way low. Here is what they are doing wrong. If you are buying this to use on a handheld scanner and plugging it into the earphone jack it will be very, very, very, low volume because an earphone jack DOSE NOT have the power to make the speaker work! A earphone jack only puts out enough power for a set of earbuds!! You need an amplified speaker if you're plugging into an earphone jack. I have a Uniden BCD536HP and when I plug this speaker into the front HEADPHONE jack the sound output is at a whisper at best. BUT on the back of the scanner there is an EXTERNAL SPEAKER jack and when you plug it into something that meant to power a speaker WOW nice and LOUD! The jack in the back puts out 5 watts of power and the headphone jack only puts out 4mW(milliwatt) of power. So here is another way to look at this. It takes 5000 milliwatts to = 5 watts or in my case the 4mW works out to be 0.004 watts and that's why this speaker will not work if you're plugging it into a headphone jack!

Small but adequate
A lot smaller than I had anticipated. Seems to be loud enough. Threw it under the seat so it’s out of the way.

It does the job it is intended to do...no more, no less.
In order to record the transmissions from my SDS100 scanner directly to my computer, I must use the scanner's 3.5mm phone jack. However, by using the phone jack, I can no longer hear the transmissions through the scanner's internal speaker. Therefore, I needed an inexpensive external speaker.Uniden offers three choices of non-amplified speakers and the BC15 is the middle model. It's a 15-watt speaker which isn't particularly powerful but does the job for which it was designed. I use the speaker within my home and it has suitable volume and clarity for that environment. If you're looking for an external speaker to use in your car or truck or in a noisy environment, this will probably not be loud enough for you and you should go with an externally-powered amplified speaker instead.Do not be turned off by the few negative reviews of this item. Most of those reviews were written by people who clearly expected more from this speaker than it was designed and marketed to do. As I said before, the BC15 does the job it is meant to do. It's just a plain, inexpensive, no-frills external speaker that has good volume and clarity.

Helps hearing my cb
I drive a dump truck and the speaker on my cb radio was hard to hear even when the volume was turned up all the way. I hooked this speaker up to my cb and can hear everything on my cb with the volume level turned to half of what it was.

Does exactly what is is supposed to do!
Does exactly what is is supposed to do! I use this with my Yeasu FT991A, works like a charm and it was CHEAP!!! Yeasu wants around 10 times the price for theirs that does the exact same thing. So glad I treid this one out first at a Huge discount compared to the Yeasu brand.

Fills the room
The main thing I was surprised about with the speaker is how the sound fills the room. As opposed to the speaker in my scanner, which gets very quiet once you're more than a few feet away. I see it has a noise canceling button which doesn't seem to do anything except to make everything quieter. I'm a little bit disappointed with the low frequencies. They seem to be attenuated somewhat. But that doesn't really affect the intelligibility much. I highly recommend this speaker.

Sound quality
The overall construction of this product is sturdy and solid, the only issue i have is the audio quality, i went from a factory peterbuilt external speaker to this unit because the factory speaker was at my left ear and i wanted something to be in front and center of me, this was able to be located as i wanted easily but the sound quality isn’t good at all, if i turn the volume up the sound gets worse, i drive local so when i talk to the people i talk with everyday the voices are unrecognizable, maybe 15 watts isnt enough, but other than that its a descent product
