Kupo Grip Heads Hold Well When Used Correctly
The Kupo 2-1/2" Grip Heads hold extremely well when used correctly. Primarily used to hold grip equipment based on the 5/8" spigots, studs and pins (otherwise known as "Baby" pins) these grips are very versatile. In addition to holding 5/8" accessories there are v-slots for 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4" accessories making this a very useful accessory to have in your kit.The Kupo grip holds so well I decided to buy two more to replace two generic grips that came with a cheap c-stand I purchased. The grips that came with that stand would not reliably hold moderately weighted items such a studio strobe. With those grips I had to do my best to really crank down on the tightening knob which is not all that easy with the cheap heads. The Kupo grips, on the other hand, tighten easily and hold VERY well. With the generic grips I'm always concerned they may slip, with the Kupo's I feel confident they will stay in place.I have notice a couple of reviews stating that the grip does not hold well on larger diameter items (such as the post on cheap light stands) and screw drivers had to used to get the grip open. I certainly hope I'm not offending anyone, but these grips were not designed to clamp to larger diameter items. For items such as these consider using a "Super Clamp" and a grip with a Baby Stud. Kupo makes this combo clamp and grip (part# KG202711) but I've found it's cheaper to buy the items separately. The proper way to use these grip heads on a light stand is to place the 5/8" receiver of the grip head on the post at the top the of the light stand (you may have to move the knob to the outer most hole to make this work properly) and use the rotating grip to hold your accessories. This is actually how it's meant to be used on a c-stand. When I first started using this type of equipment I didn't know what I was doing and it took someone else to teach me the right way to set these up and explain why.The first c-stand I purchased was a cheap, generic stand with cheap grip heads. I wish I had purchased a better stand for my first one. If I had spent a little more (my second stand was a Kupo that cost twice what I paid for the first stand) then I wouldn't be buying parts to make the first stand better. Sometimes buying cheap works out.Sometimes it's very true that you get what you pay for.If you're looking to buy a grip head be sure to know what you're buying. All grip heads do not work the same and the cost difference between the cheap grips that may slip and a better grip that will hold is literally just a few dollars at the time of this review. For the light weight items the cheap grips and stands work pretty well but when the weight of the equipment starts going up you may regret not spending a little more to get better grips.

KUPO is and underdog and deserves more credit
This is sturdy AF, up to pair to my Mathew’s and avengers one, the black color have better finish than the regular silver one. Do recommend. KUPO itself like a brand is great and I love some of their innovations, specially C-stands. I will be buying more KUPO grip soon. PD: so far the grip head still looks new even with all the travel it have been endurin.

Bigger than I anticipated.
I know it says "big knob", but I was honestly a bit surprised at how big it was. The big knob definitely makes the thing super ergonomic, which is always appreciated. The grip head itself is hefty, owing to some solid construction and the gripping strength seems to be on par with or better than the Avenger grip heads that I've worked with before. Top notch product at a reasonable price. Kupo is rapidly becoming my go-to company when it comes to light stands and mounting accessories and this grip head exemplifies why.

Solid with nice big handle
Does a solid job so far. Using it to suspend a medium-sized LED panel with softbox from a C+ stand arm on a vertical autopole over a tabletop set. That's about as much weight as it will handle, though I do have to use a counterweight. The turn handle is nice and big and easier to grab and turn than my usual Matthews equipment.

fast setup and locks tight
I use two Kupo Grip Heads to attach boom poles and baby pins on Kupo and Avenger C stands. The big beefy T-handle locks tight and makes for fast setup and teardown. Fit and finish are excellent and materials—mostly aluminum with some steel—are strong enough for war zone duty. Of course, that durability comes at a cost: weight. This beast is nearly 2LBs according to my bathroom scale! So great for use on heavy duty C stands but probably too top heavy for light duty stands. I'm pleased with the quality, design and performance of these Kupo Grip Heads.

Solid strong metal
We just finished filming a feature movie about 30 days of use with this product. We used it to mount the boom pole to a light stand. The light stands are cheap so the weight and sold build of this grip head made me a little uncomfortable. My only complaint is that it's really rugged heavy solid metal which kind of made the stand slightly more unbalanced than I would have liked. But to be honest we had no problems. Listening to the audio we got I'm really happy. No human shake on the pole allowed us to not record any extra noises and more importantly the boom was never in the shot. I don't understand why movie productions waste a staff member on boom when you can just mount the mic over the actors. My one disclaimer is that we did use a very high end Sennheiser shotgun mic which actually works best when its about 4-6 feet away from the actor. I notice boom operators always seem to like to get the mic very close to the actor and I again question why. For us it seemed to work fine 4 feet away.

Bon tournage :)
