Just bought another one!!!
Tuner models come and go so fast that you never know if the one you have/like will be available the next time you want/need one. I like this one so much, I just bought a second one to put on the shelf!I've been using this tuner twice daily on my banjo for a week now, and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed. I can place it on the pegboard and tune very accurately. This unit is teeny... which I like a lot because it takes up little to no space in my case. But, it's not SO teeny that my old man eyes can't see the screen.BECAUSE it's the size it is, I can ALSO clip it on my Banjo's bridge. Switch it to "chromatic" from "banjo", and I can do a "tap test" to find the note my banjo head is emitting (which is an important relative measurement for setting head tension).Clip fits my pegboard perfectly. Not too flimsy. Tilts and swivels, so I can always get the face square to me for reading... albeit not always right side up.Only ONE small "nit" to pick, and it doesn't matter to me, so I'm not docking a star... In "banjo" setting, when tuning for "Open G" (gDGBD = G4 D3 G3 B3 D4), the tuner gives me a false readout. When tuning the #5 string to "G4", the unit reads out a "G5". Wen tuning #2 string to "D3", it reads out "D1". #3 reads a correct G3. #4 reads a "B2" instead of "B3". #5 reads out "D1" instead of "D4". In other words, it is finding the correct pitch but the READOUT only is indicating the wrong octave. I cross checked this with several manual tuning apps on my phone which read the correct pitch and octave.Like I said... it's a nit. Just want the developers to get the info, so they can tweak the code. :)Bottom Line: If you need a small, but not too small, multi-instrument tuner... this one fits the bill. I'd buy it again.

A FIVE STAR PLUS - Awesome Tuner and Awesome Company!!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ordered two of these and they arrived yesterday. The one that works is awesome! Compares more than favorably to both my Yamaha and Fender clip on digital tuners, and is easier to use. However, the second was dead on arrival. I swapped the batteries, but to no avail. It just is dead. Comes with a limited lifetime warranty, but for the price I paid it will probably cost as much to return it as it cost to purchase. Too bad. The one that works is a great little tuner.FOLLOWUP REVIEW... Because the one worked so well, and because of the price I paid, I chose not to return the defective unit. A couple of days after I posted the review above, I was contacted by the vendor asking me to confirm my shipping address. Last evening, a replacement tuner was delivered UPS. I cannot believe the vendor replaced the defective unit just from my comments. Awesome customer service!!I prefer this tuner over the Fender and the Yamaha tuners because of the way the clip on jaws are designed. They open wider and fit flat on the headstock making greater contact for the pickup. The display is compact yet easier to read than either the Fender or the Yamaha. This makes tuning instruments easier. The compact nature of these little guys makes it less likely they will get damaged in the gig bag or hard case. The Fender and the Yamaha tuners are good tuners, too, but the xGuitarx x5 is better. I am using them to tune my Guild D4E, Cordoba C5-CE and Epiphone C-5/NS guitars, my Kentucky KM160S mandolin, my Cripple Creek Irish Tenor Banjo, and my Cordoba 15CM ukulele. Works well with all of these despite the differences of the headstock thickness across the various instruments.Great clip on tuner from a company obviously determined to ensure customer service and satisfaction. I recommend these to anyone who has need for a great clip on tuner.

Finally, a clip on without coin batteries
Until now, if you have a clip on tuner, you were stuck with those horrible coin batteries (would you believe more than 2 dozen in two years? Would you believe very short device lifespan?). The other alternative is AAA batteries in a non-clip on tuner, meaning you need either a clip on mic cord or a mic on the tuner, not convenient. Rechargeable USB battery technology is mature and works well, so finally we have it in a tuner! The good: This works well with a ukulele, even with a lowered G string. Relative string tuning or individual string tuning both work on the 'uke. It works ok with the 5th & 6th strings on a classical guitar and seems accurate for those strings. Very simple and intuitive to use and read. The ugly: Not so easy with the 1st-3rd guitar strings, however. If I use the tuner to tune the 6th string and proceed using relative tuning between the strings, that works with my mic tuner, but not with this one. For some reason it works slightly better in the chromatic mode than in the guitar mode--that doesn't make sense since I think the only difference is the display of the string number. This tuner says the 1st-3rd strings are too high when tuned from the 4th-6th strings. If I tune all of the strings with this tuner, the relative tuning is lost because the strings are not high enough. I can do it with my old mic tuner, though, so there is nothing wrong with the guitar.Bottom line: fine for 'ukes; possibly ok with other instruments, but a real pain with a nylon stringed guitar. The price is so inexpensive, perhaps I'm asking too much. But I'd rather pay $10 more to get one easier to use on my guitar. So I'm using this only on the 'uke. Truth be told, though, most people will never hear the difference. But I sure can.
