DEWALT DG5597 Open Top Tool Carrier, 18 In., 33 Pocket

I work in utility scale solar. I have used this bag for O&M and electrical work. I am that guy who has to buy a tool bag every 1-1.5 months, because they can't stand up to the torture I put them through. My bags are subjected to constant in / out of vehicle while heavily loaded, being placed and knocked around in dirt, sand, mud, rain, snow, and jagged rocks. The environment plus long hours of use per day literally rips my bag apart. So I was pleasantly surprised to see this Dewalt bag is still in the same condition I bought it after a couple of months of constant use. Good on you Dewalt!As far as the function of the bag, I love it! I set it up with the tools I need for the specific job I am performing. The open top is a huge time saver and there are plenty of pocket inside and out to store the range of tools I use (hand tools, various meters, impact drivers, parts, etc). I also love that the handle collapses to fit within my large travel tool tote.In summary, this is a very durable and functional tool bag perfect for heavy use / daily activity! The pockets would be a bit on the small side for large tools, but for an electrician, industrial mixed maintenance, and around the home use, this bag is perfect!

Great bag only issue is the bottom wore out. But still got the job done.

I really like the design. I especially like the tape measure clip as mine always seems to end up at the bottom of any bag with stuff on top. Some nice pockets and a sturdy handle which can be tilted to the side out of the way to access the center compartment easier. Only problem is my temptation to pile everything in up to the top, making it too heavy to lift. Maybe I need to buy a second bag?

I am a professional residential handyman, and ordered this tool carrier to save me from carrying s big professional 50 lb tool bag into a home. And this doesn't even count my drill bucket , electrical box, etc. I probably only used 20% of the tools I was lugging around 90% of the time. My thought after seeing a commercial maintenance man carry an open top tool carrier, and then as needed, grab additional tools from his truck, was to get this 18" inch open top carrier. Although a very nice product, it is way too big for my needs, If I fill it up as tempted with all the pockets, I am back to my old problem of hauling a bigger heavier load around. So after receiving the 18" and realizing it was huge, I have since purchased the 14". I think for a homeowner, the 18" might be best as one could have his/her majority of tools in one place inc drill, etc. I had a hard time deciding on the 14" vs 18" the first time around, and hope my experience may help someone else out in deciding. Just being an OPEN TOP whatever size tool carrier made by DeWalt makes good sense.

I like the bag itself, but it needed some modifying. The swivel handle does NOT latch in place when the bag is filled. It miht work okay filled to haf capacity, but when full the weight of the bag pulls the handle out of the latching mechanism. The plastic latch edges wore out completely in about a month, and I just carried it on a swivel for around 6 months until the sad little rivet holding it wore out, and the handle broke in the same way as photos from other reviews.I didn't contact the seller to replace the item. I like the item, but the person that had the idea for the swivel handle wasn't thinking clearly about that plactic design. I just drilled out the rivets on the broken side and pinned the handle upright. It's much sturdier now. When the other side breaks, I'll just do the same thing.I bought the 18 inch bag so that I could carry PLENTY of my tools. The bag is good for that, the handle's construction isn't as sturdy as I'd expect from DeWalt.

This bag is great. I had went through serveral other bags before I found this one. Others only last 6 months maximum, the exterior pocket would all develop holes and tools would fall out. Have now had this bag 2 years and still as good as day 1. Love it!!

I love this product for my pruning loppers, bypass pruners and more. I use it in my arborist business and it has nice pockets for all my supplies as I prune fruit trees. Its the perfect sturdy & strong tool caddy!

I purchased this bag to replace an old bag with no pockets that you had to dig through to find what you needed. It might as well have been a box or a bucket. This bag organizes my tools for easy identification and retrieval. It is a big bag with many individual pockets for your screwdrivers, wrenches, or pliers. Has a loop on one end for things like rolls of electrical tape or teflon tape. A larger zippered pocket on the other end for small items. The open top keeps everything within reach for easy retrieval especially when one of your hands are tied up. Very well made.
