I would give these 4.5 if that was an option. They are a bit heavy and overkill for a badge holder, but will hold up and last much much longer than the cheap plastic ones with the nylon string. My only other complaint is that my badge always seems to turn around backwards for some reason.

Bought these retractable badge holders because mine keep breaking. They are made of plastic but seem durable and functional. The string is not as thin as most I have seen. They are pretty light and I have been pleased with them thus far.

This retractable badge holder is no joke. I have seen no wear and tear on the cable after heavy use at work. The previous cheap plastic generic badge reels I used would last maybe two months before the string would snap. This has a thin but very strong, low friction braided metal cord.This is a 5 star product, however I gave it 4 as it is kind of bulky if you're used to more slim badge reels.

Perfect, needed a reel that would hold my heavy badge and this did very well.

My company location has over 150 buildings with door access. I use these units to hold my ID card that is used at least 20 times daily to extend and swipe for door access. While not indestructible, they last a good while before having to be replaced. I think the key is the steel cords vs nylon/string in others. This is the part that usually breaks in most of these. I have found that the clip is sturdy and works well with both dress and casual/thicker belts. Great value given the price.
