Wake-up call
It's great to have all of these reminders of exercises and stretches, that I can easily incorporate into my everyday routine. I am extremely athletic for about 1 hour/ day and the rest of the day I am sitting in an office. My back hurts, my legs cramp and I know that I am not sitting up straight. I find that the day flies by and I haven't made any effort to help myself. I am excited that this book will jump start me back to feeling better physically. I did fall earlier this year and spent a month in a cast and what a wake-up call that was.

Great book for everyday balance.
I love this book!! I am a yoga therapist that specializes in seniors. I try to include balance and stretching to be done at home off the mat in my classes. I have been asked so many times to write a book so they can have it as a reference. Well thank you Carol Clements you have written that book. You have included so many of the things that I teach. Now I can point my students to this book and tell them to get to work. Ha ha Great pictures and easy to follow. Buy this book today and buy one for a friend.

I'm going to be using this for sure!
As an "older" adult who just watched my mother fall many times over her last 5+ years, I am all too aware of how important balance and strength is as we get older. I appreciate the author including illustrations along with the very descriptive directions. This book is exactly what I was looking for! I'm giving to both of my brothers for Christmas!

Probably the best book on the topic!
This author begins with the Five Principles of the Body in Balance: 1) The head floats like a helium balloon. 2) The arms belong to the back. 3) Abdominal muscles connect the upper body to the lower body. 4) The secret of youth is a long front body. 5) The feet articulate.Once you understand these, you are ready is begin her ten week program. She emphasizes that you may progress unevenly, and that is fine. The point is to progress. You need nothing that is not already in your home--just your time and determination. The results will be worth the time spent.

Important information well presented
This book is very well organized with excellent illustrations. Smart advice, well presented, will prove very useful as good reminders of clever ways to incorporate "balance awareness" and development of related skills in everyday life.

Truly wonderful book
I love this book. I was never going to say I love anything in a review, because I think love is for people and pets, but not things. But this book has so much potential to change people’s lives (and keep them out of nursing homes) that I decided to use the l... word. It’s not just that the book has quick exercises to incorporate into daily life. I realized early on that by incorporating the exercises into my day as it instructs, I was also incorporating the postural and gait changes into habits. In other words, they become part of who I am, not just something I do in a balance class once a day or twice a week.I’ve been through four weeks of the book. And I haven’t been a great student, sometimes skipping days at a time-such as when I spent a day in bed after my second Covid shot. (Aside: my primary side effect from the vaccine was relief.) But already I notice an improvement in balance. I no longer walk down the stairs gripping the banister with both hands. I do rest one hard lightly on it, for now at least. And I do that as a precaution-I don’t feel like I have to.The author has tremendous knowledge of human movement and how to painlessly and effectively optimize it. She is also a gifted teacher. I thank her for writing this book.

Fantastic book that ALL seniors should have on hand!
I'm 63 & have balance issues plus I'm. "deconditioned" per my doctor. We've gleaned a lot of useful--life changing--information from this book & plan to begin the entire program as described in the book. The reason for each exercise is explained & then described carefully. As you progress through the book you can see how each new exercise builds on the earlier exercises you've learned & continue if you follow through. I'm certain that it will be easy for anyone to follow and benefit from. I also believe that if I need a "refresher" I'll be able to easily locate the exercises needed to get back on track.

Buy it For Your Gran, Please!
I ordered this book because I suffer from arthritis and I'm beginning to stiffen up, especially in my hips. Getting on and off the tube train is a challenge as is getting out of a chair.Already, I'm delighted with the results. My 91-year old neighbour was so impressed that she's ordered it too, and it's fascinating to see her steady progress. The author is well qualified with 40 years solid, qualified experience behind her. What makes this book different is that there are no boring exercise routines, so you are not tempted to scive off, nor over-tired by doing too much. Each week you learn a little exercise that you can practise whilst doing something else - watching TV, washing up, etc. When you're in the bathroom you can use the loo (lid down) for a hip exercise. You can lean against the kitchen table while practising a balance exercise and waiting for the kettle to boil. With physiotherapy more or less reserved for the rich or the seriously injured, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this book is life-changing.Suitable for those who want to improve their fitness, most especially balance and flexibility in old age. Buy it for your Gran, please!

Hopefully doing a good job
My 70+ mother is using this book and gaining some of her balance. A few things go too far for here, but it is a good set of exercises that must be well enough explained and thought through that she is getting value from it.

Brilliant present for elderly person
This is fantastically useful, full of do-able exercises for older people, like brushing your teeth on tip toes. It's all about the little things that keep you flexible and active. Highly recommended.

Not for everyone.
Not quite what I expected. Exercises are not very practical.
