Q: Is this machete full tang? 1 solid piece of metal or two parts (metal/handle)?

No, not full tang. What there is screws into a plastic handle. I've used this to easily and comfortably cut through limbs about 3/4 inch think. It's for light duty, and for this it works well. I like it.

Q: is this made in the US?

No, this is made in Communist China. The Ontario machetes are made in the USA. Ontario Cutlery is the manufacturer our military gets theirs machetes from. They about the same price on Amazon as the Chi-Com junk. Good for you for caring about which workers will benifit from your purchase, not to mention the dramatic quality difference.
