A satisfying end to the series
First, if you haven't read the first three books in this series, do that before you read this one. Or this review. I may spill some spoilers from earlier in the storyline. But not this book, I promise. You remember Horace, from the first scene of the first book? He's the subject of the last sentence of this book, which makes this a series that is, in reality, a story about Horace and his friends. Some questions will be answered for you in this installment. Such as What are the Mothergates? Why are they dying? Who are the Altari, really? And the riven? And, central to this story, Will Any Of The Good Guys Survive?I promised no spoilers, so I won't answer any of those questions. But the book does in the course of narrating an exciting storyline that does provide those answers. From my headline, you can guess the most important answers, I imagine. Horace is pushed to his limits, as are most of his friends, particularly Chloe. They face seemingly intractable problems, and their solutions to those problems make up the meat of the narrative. So, short story:If you have read the first three books and liked them, read t his one today. If you haven't read them yet, then read them. In order. I'll miss these kids.

EPIC EPIC BOOK SERIES
BestBookEVER.I got my husband to read them. We both finished them last week and we are STILL discussing them.I got my sister to buy them as well. She's only on Book 1. I keep telling her these books are like a snowball rolling downhill... They just get bigger and better each book!!!These are better than Harry Potter. There, I said it. (This from the girl who has read the HP series twice for good measure.)It also helps that apparently my family thinks Chloe's character surely was based on ME. Lol!Ted Sanders: PLEASE WRITE MORE BOOKS LIKE THESE!!!!!

Fabulous Series
This is a 3 book series that does not leave you gasping for more because it wraps up so beautifully. The trio are filled with very interesting characters, and they are very fleshed out. I feel a little concern that the main character is so young, then I remember Harry was 11, so I guess it’s ok.

Great End to a Great Series!
I have forced this series on those I love the most and anyone else I can convince to read it. Not only is it flooded with incredible and beautiful creativity in world and plot, but the characters are lovable, relatable, and believable. I also appreciate that in a series aimed for young readers, Sanders doesn't shy away from tough stuff or grey areas. The entire series is well worth a read and even a re-read!
