Great Switch, affordable and EZ to program
This was purchased to replace a POS netgear EOL switch I had. What a difference. Performance is great and the web admin makes administration a breeze. Not big on getting into TrendNet Hive but otherwise the product is great. Just know that after any changes you MUST SAVE the config. It does not auto save and if you reboot or power cycle it, any changes made that were not SAVED will vanish. How do I know? - Um don't ask LOL.Cant go wrong with this unit. I purchased 2 of them with one being a backup in case something happens but at this price point, still much much cheaper than any Cisco junk and no license BS to deal with.

Totally worth it!
I installed this as the core switch in my home office. My needs were VLAN and 802.1q support, Gig Ether speeds, a QUIET device (i.e. fanless), reliability, and reasonable power consumption. I have relatively low throughput requirements despite the need for Gig Ether connections. 20Gb throughput is more than adequate, so this switch fit the bill perfectly.I have a variety of devices connected to this, and all of them are working well. The UI isn't really something you bring home to show Mom, but the feature support is still exceptional. Mac users, you'll definitely need the firmware update from July 2017 if it isn't already loaded. It fixed significant compatibility issues with multiple browsers on the Mac platform.

Solid product
Works like a charm, and with the added basic layer 2 management, it's a great deal for the price. My only comment would be regarding the fan noise, as it is relatively loud. I have it in a small cabinet, in a closet, and it can still be heard over the sound of the two cabinet fans, so it's definitely not for placement in an open office space. Nevertheless, still a great deal for the specs. Let's see how it fairs in the long haul.Update December 2012:3 years later and it still works like a charm without a single hitch. I can't even remember the last time I had to restart it for any specific reason!Update May 2016:4 more years of perfect service; I think I had to restart it once.

I really wanted to like it, but didn't work with my DS1511+
I want to start off with the caveat of my review is that the faults I found with it are mostly due to the fact that I didn't do enough research. I really liked this unit, but it just wasn't what I needed.I opened this up, hooked it to my laptop and logged in. I configured the switch through the web interface, which was tolerable, but not super). The first thing I really noticed was that it was quiet (no fan), and heavy. I like products that have some good weight to them. It was easy to configure a gave me the throughput I was looking for. Gigabit on every port for this price is almost unheard of.With everything I like about it, there was one thing that I couldn't fix. This switch supports Link Aggregation, which is one of the reasons I bought it. It however, only supports static link aggregation and not LACP (dynamic link aggregation). I bought this switch primarily to use with a Synology DiskStation 1511+, which supports Link Aggregation, but it turns out it only does LACP. We therefore ran into a conflict with the link aggregation. It was cheaper to replace this than the NAS, so I went with a different model. It's unfortunate, since it seems this could be done with a software update. All this being said, if you are looking for a 16-port managed switch, that can do VLANs, is easy to setup, and looks pretty sitting on your shelf, this is definitely a wonderful choice. If you need something that supports LACP, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Switch works great
Has all the extra features that you want in a managed switch. Easy to manage and works great can’t ask for much more from a switch.

A Nice upgrade to the old version.
I've been using trendnet for over twenty years now. I have a rev 1 version of this switch still in service. They are solid and dependable. This one is for an expansion of the network (at home) in my office. I also have installed these for commercial customers and have only had one die (dirty hot room and the fan clogged up, or it was the power surge that burned out 4 computer power supplies, not sure which). They are simple to setup, good web interface, and the new version is even faster that the rev 1's. Trendnet isn't the kind of gear where you have to spend two week in class just to learn how to get the switch online. It's budget friendly and user friendly too.

High end features for low end price - amazing!
This switch contains features normally reserved for high end, expensive managed switches in the $2k+ range! The SNMP monitoring MIB alone is impressive. I am using PRTG to monitor traffic (bandwidth utilization) on 250Mbps Comcast Internet ports through this switch. Comcast doesn't allow SNMP on their "modems" anymore and the "cheap" 24-and-48-port "smart" switches I purchased for hundreds of dollars also don't support SNMP bandwidth utilization. I simply put this switch in the middle (it supports VLANs too btw so you can monitor multiple connections through it), point my SNMP monitoring tool (PRTG) to it, add some standard off the shelf probes, and tada! I can now prove we are getting the bandwidth we are paying for. You can also setup SNMP users and groups with different rights including read only, read/write, different MIBs, etc., very customizable. The options for optics is a nice plus although I am only using the copper ports for now.I have only had this switch for a few days but so far so good. Nice charts from the data the switch is providing!!!
