This was a present for my two year old son and he thoroughly likes it (as do his older sisters!) The whole set is wooden, even the nuts and bolts and big enough that tiny hands can use them without needing any help. Some people may find that the nuts could be small enough for a child to try and swallow if your child likes seeing what new things taste like - thankfully, mine do not! There are a few images on the box wrapper showing what can be built with the pieces in the box which is helpful as a good starting point.The construction set would have received five stars however, after about three weeks use, some of the wooden bolt heads had come away from the shaft. Not a massive problem as I had wood glue and just stuck them back together but was surprised they didn't last a bit longer. Also, the wooden carrying container's opening doors no longer match up symmetrically, one door seems to be dropping off.That a side, the set is a simple and fun toy that encourages creative thinking and good hand-eye coordination.
