Great low whistle for beginners
Excellent low whistle. I don't know why the product review by Kerry Blevins says the item is not sold or produced by Dixon Valve & Coupling, I wonder which seller they got it from. The low whistle I ordered arrived in perfect condition and it is indeed a Dixon instrument. The low whistle has a nice, soft low sound. Of course it won't sound like the metal or aluminum, but the sound is still great. The last whole is a bit far away, so it takes some time to adjust your hands to the instrument ,specially if you are used to play tin whistles. The item also came with another mouth or upper part, to turn the instrument into an Irish flute. Overall, for anyone wishing to learn the low whistle, I would definitely recommend this item.

Very nice sounding low D whistle
This review is for the Tony Dixon model TB012D Low D Whistle (tuneable version).I was a little apprehensive about ordering it, since it is made of PVC plastic. However, on receiving it, I am very happy with it.I have played the soprano D tin whistle on and off, for probably 8 years now. This is my first low D whistle.I've had it now for about 2 weeks. Using the piper's grip, to allow the larger fingering, is taking some getting used to.I was able to play beautiful, slower music with it right away, and was very impressed with it's rich sound. At first it was hard to not have it squeak on the octave jump. However, I'm getting the hang of it. It's just the faster music that I keep getting that squeak on still. But it's usually because I'm still not quite completely covering the holes yet (with that quirky pipers grip). Also, it seems like it plays just slightly on the airy side. But some people like that.It seems to start having problems going into the super problematic airy side because of trapped moisture in the mouthpiece, fairly quickly (within 3 minutes of playing). I don't know if that's a common problem for other low whistles or not. But it's quickly cleared up by just flicking it.

A piece of horrible plastic junk
I don't know why this Irish Whistle made of plastic junk can cost $100 dollars, this was a complete waste of money due that I can't refund this thing I have to keep it. This piece of sh** came broken and I have to repair it with imagination, powerful super glue and cement plasticine clay to correct the fissures this thing had. I don't know why Tony Dixon don't make wood Irish flutes it would be better for them to make good quality products but the good news is that now I have the technique to make an Irish flute from a horrible plastic tube.

A really nice instrument!
This is now the best whistle I own. The tone is sweet and rich. I am pretty much a beginner, but I find the overtones pretty easy to control. I can play over two octaves on it. Its a great instrument! It might be a bit difficult for someone with smaller hands to play.

I have a high-D whistle. This is my first Low-D whistle. This whistle is made of a strong plastic. It was shipped much sooner than the anticipated arrival date in perfect condition. It produces beautiful sound and is more forgiving to play than the high-D whistle. I would recommend this to anyone who is new at playing the Irish Whistle.

Consistent High Quality Tony Dixon Whistle
If you already play a high D whistle that will help, but for me it is a LOT harder to play. Tony Dixon whistles are consistently well made!

Nice sound. You won’t be dissapointed
I bought this on a friend’s recommendation that it would be easier to finger than my Michael Burke low D. The difference is only minor.
