Review: Fantastic, pumps even in the shade. - This is a great quality solar panel. I have had a few other small trickle panels and a cheap flexible plastic one (total waste of money) and I am really impressed with the power and quality of this panel. It is really too strong for a trickle panel, but i find I can put it in the shade and it works fine with less power and it will totally charge up a "dead" car battery in no time (paired with a cheap charge controller, made mobile safe by hot glue gunning wiring points). I bought a panel this strong because I got a great sale price on it. Very worth it. Small enough to be portable and easily moveable and will fit on my dash even and large enough to really kick ass, charge up a lead acid battery and all my 5 volt usb lights and devices. Great for camping. My only problem with this panel on the onset was that it came with Renology MC4 connectors attached and I had trouble deciding whether to buy more of those or rip off the MC4 connector and just convert to 12 volt automotive water proof connector I already had on hand. For my uses, I was better off without the MC4 (a waterproof rating not size rating) I decided, and I finally pried them off and converted to the 12 volt auto connector, but the psychological block really impacted my project.
Review: Renogy Rules, Others Drool - I bought the 50-watt panel on an desertcart return for a measly fifty bucks. Purchased to keep a FunWatt Portable Power Station charged while on camping trips in the Northwest USA. Works great, and even under partially cloudy skies in the Seattle area, I was getting 40-42 watts out of this thing out there in the high country. Completely clouded over, it was still giving me 12-15 watts which was still enough to charge the power station. So I was pretty happy. I see a lot of poor reviews of the THIRTY watt unit, but I can't attest to all that. I know my 50-watt panel was very good, came with the MC4 connectors, and works great. Since this purchase, I added a 15-foot extension line, a splitter, and a 30 amp controller. Now I can charge a big deep cycle battery out in the field, and the power station at the same time. Woo hoo. Construction seems very solid on these Renogy units, and you are better off any day with monocrystalline than poly...which just isn't as efficient. Don't try to save a few bucks going polycrystalline. Do the Renogy mono instead. Until you experience the free power provided by solar, you don't know what you're missing. I'm not planning to convert my whole house to solar anytime soon, but if you want to power an outbuilding enough to run a computer, a fan, and a few lights, solar is the way to go. You kind of add a little to your household here and there, without increasing your power bill.

## Features

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the meaning of 12V in the product title，Why is this value different from the voltage of the solar panel？**
A: When you open the product page, you will see a title like "xxx Watt 12 Volt Solar Panel". The "12V" here does not refer to the voltage of this solar panel (VOC or VMP), but to the fact that one xxxW solar panel is suitable for 12V system.

**Q: What does off-grid and on-grid mean ?**
A: On-grid simply means solar power equipment (array or solar panel) is connected to the electrical grid, while off-grid refers to systems that are not connected to the grid and therefore store the generated power for later use.

**Q: Why is my solar panel under producing ?**
A: Solar panel performance may be hindered for a number of reasons. Most commonly environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature rise, cloudy sky, and dirt and stain build up on the top glass will cause a reduced power output.

**Q: How many solar panels do I need ?**
A: To determine solar panel needs, calculate the power load (Watts) and capacity (Watt-hours). Size the battery bank based on minimum capacity, then adjust panel quantity or power input accordingly.

**Q: What do I need to complete my off-grid solar power system ?**
A: A solar panel must be connected to a charge controller to regulate current and to a battery to store power. You’ll need adapter kit cables to connect the panel(s) to the controller, plus tray cables to link the controller to a deep-cycle battery.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fun
*by T***E on June 2, 2026*

Bought two to run in parallel for my office in-window setup and it's been educational and fun. My laptop has exclusively been solar powered for about a year now thanks to these babies. They are well made and sturdy and have survived in all weather conditions, but more importantly they've taught me what to expect from my upcoming more ambitious projects.
