A Quality & Easy to Use Digital Audio Recorder
This was a surprise to me... a very nice quality device, which works well, and as advertised, for about $20. The sound is adequate and understandable with the small speaker, but when you transfer the files to your computer, you can hear that they are of a very good quality. I tried both the 512kbps it is set to out of the box, and the highest 1536kbps. There does seem to be a quality improvement... and with this 16GB version, that is supposed to hold 24 hours of audio. I also tested renaming the audio files while connected to the computer, and it does allow this. Your rename shows up on the recorder's screen, as you can see in one of my pictures. This is a VERY handy feature, if you are out in the field and need to find a file. But the best thing about this is the ease of use: You flip on the slide switch, then press "record", and you are good to go. Then when you finish, you press "SAVE". The list of all your files appears and you can quickly scroll them, and play which ever you want with another press of "PLAY/PAUSE". It may sound silly to point this out, but I've used a couple of more expensive, name brand units, and I often find myself needing a refresher course in recording, saving, and playing... they make you go through so many other steps for those very simple tasks. The quality is wonderful, too... although that cheap chrome plating is something I've never like on "import" electronics. But the case seems to be metal, and nicely finished. This has a very nice feel to it, all around. As people point out, it is very small. Well I have large hands, and have no problem with it. I was also surprised to see this being used in the new Netflix production, "The Beast in Me", with Claire Danes. She plays a successful writer in the series. Clearly this is some iteration of this same device... I would have expected the choice of some super-high end recorder, but they used this one... I would imagine considering the look and quality just fine for the part. All in all, I am not only impressed with what you get for the price, but even if this was a more expensive unit, with "Sony" or "Olympus" on it, I would appreciate the quality, features, and sound.

Great audio in a small package
My fiance got me this when I started back to college so I could record my lectures. It was the best recorder I think I've ever used for school. The clarity of sound when listening to playbacks is top notch. The mic might actually be too good because you can hear everything from someone taking their foot against their desk to someone rustling in their book bag on the other side of the room. It was kind of crazy. However, the lecture was equally easy to hear. The mic was able to pick up questions from other students who spoke quietly and were not near to where I was seated. I love the fact that if you get a micro USB to USB-C cable, you can directly download the recordings to your phone so you can use your earphones because this isn't a Bluetooth recorder (if you have a phone that has USB-C, otherwise you'd need whatever cable goes to your specific phone). I've had this recorder for a year now and it's still performing like the first day. I even got one for my daughter when she started actual college attendance. We both have ADHD, so being able to listen to lectures multiple times really helps. The other thing I love is that it is small and fits in my backpack without taking up a lot of space. It can be carried in a pocket without being noticed. I used to set it on the front of my desk at school and nobody noticed I was recording the lecture. I had a classmate that sat next to me miss class one day and asked what we covered when they came back. I asked if they'd like a copy of the lecture and even though I'd recorded every lecture, they had no clue. They thought I just had an mp3 player on my desk every day! Also worth mentioning is the battery. The battery life on this is absolutely amazing. I charged it to full before the first day of class and I only had to charge it up once or twice the entire 4 month semester, using it every class day. And it charges really fast. No need for AAA batteries with the built in rechargeable battery. That alone is a major plus in my book. So, if you're a student and like to record your lectures, I highly recommend this little recorder. It saved my life during review sessions for tests in all my classes. Record the reviews and use those recordings to tailor study time. It's great!

Time will tell
It does what it is suppose to do. The sound quality is good and it is easy to operate. My problem is the plastic it is made of looks and feels very cheap. No, it has not broken yet I anticipate that happening. Only time will tell and the rating of 4 rather than 5 is simply based on a feeling.

Small but outperforms expensive recorders
You will 100% have no complaint on the power of this little recorder. I use digital recorders for recording statements and have used many brands worth over $100. This little unit outperforms my more expensive recorders. It puts out clear recordings with no background interference. It is easy and intuitive to use. It is very small so you should keep it in the plastic carry box it comes with. The USB C connector is great so you don't have to look around for the obsolete USB A connectors. The only thing I saw that could be improved is the lighted digital display goes dim after after 10-15 seconds to save power. It made it hard for me to see the digital time counter but not impossible. That is minor and the performance outweighs that small glitch.

It depends what you want to use it for....
On the positive side, it is a remarkable device considering its size which is just tiny. Too small, in fact, for my big hands to handle efficiently. Sound quality is good. What I wanted was a small recorder for the car, something I could pick up and use to make a quick audio note of something on my travels. It isn't good for that: 1. It takes three separate steps to make a recording. You have to turn it on, then you hit a record button, then you have to hit a really small "save" button. Then you have to turn it off. Doing all this while driving will be a problem. Compare the ease of a classic micro-cassette recorder, where you can pick it up and push a button to record, and one to stop. 2. The buttons are really hard to read. They have embossed symbols, to be sure, but the plastic is so shiny (chromed) you have to tilt it and find the right light to read them. A little "flash" at the expense of legibility. Better lettering is on the back of the device but having to turn it upside down to read what the buttons do is not ideal. So for what I wanted, it doesn't cut it and I'll just get a used micro recorder off the auction site. But it you wanted something really small for recording a lecture, or surreptitiously recording somebody from your shirt pocket (where legal - in many states is isn't) it might be just the ticket.

Picks up voices well
This recorder works incredibly well. I was skeptical because of the low price, but it works. It can even pick up soft talkers and whispering to some extent. This is perfect for recording a lecture. It's also very user friendly. I did need to skim the manual, but was up and running in a matter of a couple of minutes. I could not figure out how to get auto recording to work and the manual states that it is not recommended to use this feature. I believe the feature is probably there, but maybe not. It might have been disabled. Pros: - The manual claims it will record for 30 hours on the default settings. - Intuitive interface - Intuitive manual - Incredibly sensitive and able to pick up soft talkers and to some extent whispering - Very small. Even the videos didn't give it justice on it's size. It's tiny. Cons: - Auto record either doesn't exist or is difficult to figure out I can't speak on durability though, but I did drop it from 3 feet on to concrete the first day. Ugh, thought at that low of a price it would break, but it did not!
