I have my laptop for work mounted on a shelf under my desk to keep it out of the way. It was recently upgraded and the new laptop had a combined earphone/microphone jack which meant the microphone I had no my desk for Team calls wouldn't work. This meant I had to pull the laptop out and put it on the desk for Teams voice calls.This adapter allows me to use my microphone again. It works with only the microphone plugged in and nothing in the earphone jack. I'm using the laptop speakers for audio.The cables are very thin after they split so this might not hold up to a lot of travel but for my purpose (under my desk and never moving), it should be fine.

This is not technically a splitter; it is an adapter. What most people don't understand is that, although the old recorder mic has the same 3.5 mm plug as the new headsets, it is a 3-conductor plug and uses the same contacts as headphones. Computers, phones and tablets that accept the new headsets use a 3.5 mm 4-conductor plug that has a separate contact for the mic. So, plugging an old mic into this type jack doesn't make contact with the mic conductor and the mic won't work. If you want to use an old headset that has separate 3.5 mm plugs for the mic and headphones, or use a separate mic and headphone or speaker with your device, you need this adapter. The inputs are marked for mic and headphone, and adapt the old mic plug to a 4-conductor plug.

Splitter works great no problems!

It's cheap and useful so i could do karaoke through my phone use microphone and headphones at same time with this extended cable. But now it's start lose on the hole guess the price is equal with the quality.

I needed it to have a external speaker and a microphone to my iPad which serves as the camera for the videoconferencing. My partners say the quality of sound is great and to have a real speaker as an output instead of the iPad in-built ones is a real treat - especially when you hear sometimes music over the conferencing call. Top!

I purchased this cable for a client with a low budget who needed a laptop for Zoom to integrate with a live broadcast solution that I had previously installed for them. I plugged it into the laptop and everything worked fine for a few minutes. Within an hour the microphone side of the cable no longer worked, and now, one day later, the client called me and said that the headphone side is also no longer working. We tested another cable and sure enough, this product is the problem. I don't leave many reviews unless I'm thoroughly impressed or disappointed with a product... this is one of those cases. My return window has apparently already closed so now I'm stuck with this cost and a product that doesn't work. Save yourself the headache and DO NOT BUY THIS!
