Planet Bike Anatomic Relief System Classic Bike Seat- Men

This seat is perfect for wheelies. I've had it over a year, riding several hours a week, and it's held up perfectly. I replaced the stock seat on my mafiabike with this. The stock seat has more of a bulge in the middle, which makes my middle bits sore after awhile. This seat is flatter across the entire surface, and has that nice big channel cut out of the middle. Solved all my soreness problems. I would argue this seat is actually a better performer for wheelies than the stock mafiabike seat. That is because it stays flat all the way to the edges, which allows you to leverage your weight on the edges better, making the bike feel more responsive to my weight shifts. And this thing is endlessly comfortable. At this price, it's a steal.

I purchased the Planet Bike Men's A.R.S. Bicycle Saddle to replace the stock saddle that came with my Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike. The stock seat left me with numb cheeks and soreness that lasted a few days after my rides. This seat reviewed well and looked to address the comfort issues with my stock saddle. ► INSTALLATION: I'm somewhat of a bike novice but found that removing my stock saddle and installing the ARS was incredibly easy. You'll want a good set of allen wrenches on hand (or at least that was required for my bike) to loosen the bolts that clamp your existing seat into place. Then you simply wiggles this seat's underbars into the metal clamp on your bike post, tighten the allen bolts and you're ready to ride. ► FIRST IMPRESSION: I took my bike out on a 20-mile ride on partially paved, partially unpaved surfaces and the ARS was a H-U-G-E improvement over my stock saddle! Discomfort and numbness on my backside was almost nonexistent and after my ride I definitely was not as sore as I would've been with the stock seat. I'm 5'10" about 175lbs and felt that my stock seat was just too small. The GEL pads on the ARS are large enough that I felt my weight was more on my butt instead of what felt like my inner thigh region... not to be overly graphic. This all translated to a better ride and thanks to that better pace and less soreness after my ride was over. ► THE GOOD: (+) Installation. Super easy to install this on my rig and just needed an allen wrench set to get the job done. (+) Comfort. My first ride with this seat was a success! I'm definitely looking forward to my next ride thanks in part to the ARS saddle. ► MIXED: (+/-) Ventilation. This is an advertised feature of the ARS though I didn't notice any type of significant ventilation with this seat. There's an obvious cutout in the saddle, it just seemingly didn't make a difference that I could detect. ► THE BAD: (-) Logos. I hate equipment with too many logos and this is definitely not an attractive saddle thanks to the 'ARS' and 'Planet Bike' red and white logos emblazoned prominently. Also the 'Planet Bike' logos wore off almost completely during my ride. I'm tempted to take my wife's hairdryer to the ARS logos to remove them.

We'll start with that: Whether it's a great seat depends on what you need. This IS a great improvement on the ridiculous fence posts that most road racer bikes think people want sticking up their backsides. Meanwhile, this is NOT the seat you are looking for if you will be sitting upright in a more cruising style or need a very narrow "middle" to the seat (more below). This is simply is not as wide as some other great comparably priced seats (like the "Schwinn Pillow Top Cruiser Bicycle Seat" -- though Amazon's add for that seat has TWO DIFFERENT seats pictured -- a note on that in a second). Back to the A.R.S. (... as my teenager pointed out, the acronym when properly pronounced is the British term for its intended application ... anyhoo ...) I mostly do road riding / commuting to work, 10 miles one way, riding as fast as possible. Meanwhile I hate most bike seats; I want a seat I can pay no attention to (read the article: at Cervelo's site: "The Four and a Half Rules of Road Saddles"). When I put this seat on I wasn't convinced right away that this was 'the one': I tried multiple angles, heights, and positions, and found one particular angle where it was tolerable. I kept thinking I would take it off, but after riding >50 miles this week, I had actually improved my speed by over 10% (maybe I'm just getting in better riding shape, or maybe the new tires helped?), but, I've also thought about the seat less and less -- I think there really is a break-in phase as some others have mentioned. Two final notes: some have complained about saddle sores and inner thigh issues: because this is a slotted seat, it has to be more "pear shaped" -- see the article cited above, rule #4.5: "do you prefer a T or a PEAR shaped saddle?" The pears are inherently wider toward the middle, and will rub if you don't have a lot of lateral clearance in your anatomy there. See Amazon ad for the Schwinn seat noted above and the two different seats that are inadvertently pictured there: the top one is a "pear" and the bottom one is a "T", both of a similar model (look at top view images only). I actually own the "T" of those two and it is the best seat I've ever owned (and that's the second note: yes, it's more a cruiser style, but I use it on my road racer -- it's what's COMFORTABLE that matters, not what LOOKS like you think a professional should be sitting on) -- it is ~8" wide in the back, but with a very sharp angle to the nose so it is not very wide in the middle, making for great thigh clearance; if that is what you need, the ARS is not for you, but the Schwinn may be. At the end of the day, the ARS is not as wide as I would prefer, and the "pear" shape causes more friction than preferred; it was also not well fitted and was distracting to ride on at first. BUT, after some fine tuning on position and 50 miles of riding, I think less and less about it, and I'm riding really fast, which are all good things. If you are thinking about getting off your fence post for a street racer, you can't go wrong here. If you prefer wider support and narrower thigh clearance, get the Schwinn, but make sure it is the "T" shaped one.

This is a picture of the other saddles and saddle covers I tried in the quest for comfort. I really dislike even small levels of discomfort that others don't even notice. I'll share what I learned about bike saddles in the course of testing every single one of these on a minimum 10k test ride each. People's sit bones and sit bone arch are quite different person to person. This is probably why Brooks saddles are so popular since with break in you get a custom fit. Sit bone width is touted online but as a youtube bike fitter said, he noticed little correlation between these measurements and what saddle people wound up happiest with. For me, the calculator said I should be happy with a 140-145mm saddle, but these all seemed too narrow. The issue is that in a typical riding position (neither road bike aggressive, nor cruiser totally upright) it isn't the sit bone points that the saddle supports, but rather a significant portion of the arch up to the pubic bone. This is also why some people like 'spoon' saddles with a concave curve and some like flat. This arch is a 3d shape so simple measurements can't really capture what's going on with it. I also felt frustrated by the design of most saddles. Many of them have a pronounced rounded bump of foam/gel where they meet the sit bones, which creates a strange unstable feeling when you try to get the power down that rocks you very slightly, like you're perched up on the top of a curve. Additionally, many of these saddles bottom out on cushioning almost immediately (I'm only 71kg!) and wind up quite firm even if what foam is there is soft. The seats that are cushioned enough to not bottom out (cruiser seats like the giddyup pictured here) are quite comfortable but aren't really ideal for longer rides as they rub in various places. Enter the ARS saddle. It has a broad but not too broad flat area you to find a good place to distribute weight across the sit bone arch. It has a high loft of cushioning that doesn't bottom out despite not being as bulky as the cruiser saddles. The cutout is generous, and I notice zero pressure on the perineum but also not like I am sliding forward off the saddle. Among the failed experiments, I think the best was the fmfxtr saddle (all the way to the left), and the airbag cushion. The fmf saddle has the rounded peak problem, but is otherwise very good in a variety of positions, and good for someone who wants a somewhat wider saddle for support but doesn't want to go full cruiser on a hybrid bike. The airbag cushion gives almost a custom fit, you just have to inflate it way less than you think you need to as the weight from your body is plenty to push the air around to where it needs to be. The best cruiser saddle was the giddyup. it is great on my cruiser bike but not great for anything else. I had high hopes for the blue hexagonal cushion, as I love those cushions on my chairs and in my car and even for my meditation cushion, but on a bike it bottomed out immediately. Notable saddles I didn't try: Brooks Ergon 3d saddles All of these have rave reviews but are expensive. With the brooks in particular it is impossible to know if you'll like it until you've ridden it hundreds of miles and can't return it. I'd still like to try an ergon, as they seem well designed, and will if I get the chance to swap seats for a ride with someone.

Looks: New design is attractive and sleek. It is not waterproof so bring a cover for rain (grocery bag). Looks like current picture not like other reviewers photos, I am happy about the more subtle logo. Ease of installation: Easy to install, but is dependent on you seatpost's quality and age. It is universal, just make sure you tighten it well. Build quality: It is far better than the older school seats. The area of relief is great. There is a break-in period but it is running fine now. I have used it for a couple 100 miles already. I was recommended this saddle by a website based on its value and comfort. I liked it so much I bought one for my other bike.

I bought this seat as my stock seat was causing me to go numb, I have a Cannondale Mountain Bike. The seat was easy to install and did stop the numbness caused by the stock seat. The padding towards the rear of the seat tends to push me forwards towards the bars putting a lot of stress on my arms, i have adjusted the seat as horizontal as possible using a level. I weigh 220 and solid due to working out most of my life. I cannot say this seat is comfortable, only that it is better than what was original equipment. I have put on about 100 miles since I purchased the seat and i find no problems with the quality, just the lack of comfort. A lighter rider might find it to be more comfortable but not sure. The price was good, and this is my first aftermarket seat i have tried. I might have to keep searching..

Ok so I only had it one day and 18 miles ridden in the hot florida sun, 90 plus temp... Here are my thoughts on this. I'm 6'2" and 223lbs. Long arms long legs. Average rider for fitness fun on and off road stuff. I like to replace gear as stuff wears out or breaks in other words get my moneys worth. I ride a flat bar hybrid style bike so I have an upright riding position. I mounted seat in a neutral position with just a slight downward slant. I don't wear any special padded shorts just regular nylon shorts. This ars replaces a comfort saddle with the springs on the bottom which came stock on my hybrid bike. Several years and thousands miles later I decided to upgrade my seat. The old one is cushy but makes my sit bones sore non stop. Some initial observations: Well made Good value Instant cool factor increase on bike(looks Freakin Awesome) Increased good posture while riding A more fluid cadence. 17 oz lighter than old one So after the first couple of miles and fascination with a new seat I like it and have nothing bad to say about it. After 18 miles I got a little sweaty but in 90 degree heat thats gonna happen. A few things to add here. The seat is supportive and I forgot about it after awhile and just rode.I felt like my posture improved while riding and my pedal cadence was more fluid. Hopefully my sit bones will heal after using this one for awhile. Aother thing is my hands are tingle free after this ride and I have had a problem with that in the past, I'm not sure if it is any way related to the seat though. Tip: I use loctite on my seat clamp threads ETA: OK so it is now several weeks and rides later and the seat still gets 5 stars it is a good seat for the money, I don't even think about my saddle when I ride now.

Some of the negative reviews posted by previous buyers almost persuaded me to skip this product, but I am VERY glad I purchased it! After sifting through many of the reviews, I noticed one of the major complaints was that it was not big enough. I think some of those reviewers were confused regarding what they had ordered... It says in the title, "Bicycle Saddle", which typically refers to a narrow seat designed for long-distance biking. If you are looking for a wide, deeply-cushioned, EZ-boy-inspired "seat", this ain't it! However, I've ridden for over 10 years and thousands of miles on a saddle made of leather and steel (came stock with my bike), and this provides loads of anatomical relief over that traditional bicycle saddle! It is so much more comfortable than a traditional saddle -- has just enough cushion to ease the pressure without being too bulky for long rides. The sciatic recess is nice as well, and has really cut down on the tingling-sensation I feel in my nether region after a long ride... Two downsides that made this product 4-star instead of 5: 1- As other reviewers have noted, the logos on the "nose" of the saddle are not too durable: I've only put on about 200 miles in two weeks and one of them has already come off where my thigh rubs the seat. Of course, I didn't buy this seat for its logos, I purchased it for its performance, which is stellar. Besides, they come off pretty clean -- looks like they were never even there, just makes me wonder about long-term quality of the rest of the product) 2- The description does claim that the center recess provides "anatomic relief and ventilation". Anatomic relief? Absolutely. Ventilation? I didn't notice any difference. This was the main reason I knocked it down a star (again, I don't really care too much about the ventilation, but thought it would be a nice perk; the description was a bit misleading in that sense). Overall, this is the best 'bicycle seat' I've ridden on since I was a kid (i.e., the best seat I've ever had on a road bike). It provides lots of relief and cushion while still maintaining a low profile and staying out of the way on long rides. I would absolutely recommend this to friends/family.

Seat I replaced, was generic seat. That being said, this one is same brand that one I found beside my car on parking lot, that was probably 15 years old, (prior to me installing it) and it was making crackling sounds. Seat has same markings, same molding was used. For people complaining that is uncomftable, this is amateur mountam bike riding seat. Normally when I ride I do not cruise sitting on it. Also I do wear padded spandex under my bike shorts. I am also 106 kilograms, (approx 230 pounds), and my combined weight and ride style, do make my ride comfortable. Also you can angle the seat prior to instalation so you can support your bottom without hurting your "family jewels". Overall I think to abuse I will do to this seat, will last me up to 10-15 years. If you are half of the weight I am, double that, and some and most likely will last more than 30 years. For 47$ seat that is pretty good deal. I also got it delivered within 2 days, without a prime, which is a bonus. Thank you seller!

Der Sattel als solches ist vom Gewicht und vom Sitzkomfort vollkommen okay. Leider ist der Sattel überhaupt nicht wasserfest. Ein kleiner Schauer langt schon, und der Sattel ist vollgesaugt wie ein Schwamm. Das ist in dieser Preisklasse vollkommen unmöglich. In der Produktbeschreibung wird auch NICHT erwähnt, dass der Sattel nicht wasserdicht/wasserfest ist.

Its padded but i feel numbness on my crouch area. Its not fit for me physically
