Good Quality Torque Wrench
This is a review on the Proto 3/8" torque wrench. No issues with this product. I have several other Proto torque wrenches and this one looks identical in build quality and design. The serial number on the wrench matched the calibration sheet and all was in order. I like that these wrenches are all steel and no plastic. The lock ring is easy to hold back while adjusting the torque setting on this 3/8" wrench. The torque ring on the 1/2" is a bit harder to hold back while adjusting, so the easier ring is a plus. The wrench is packaged in a plastic storage box. It looks identical to all my other Proto torque wrench storage boxes. This is a red plastic molded box that has plastic hinges, the kind that look like they might break from opening and closing too many times. Although I have not broken any of my other similar Proto wrench boxes. It is not the best storage box I have but it is sufficient. Recommend this wrench based on experience with my other similar Proto torque wrenches from the same line.

Functional, solid, and beautiful.
Solid and Made in the USA Made in the USA Proto is like a work of art and a funtional tool. I can only hope Stanley doesnt destroy their Made in the USA tool line by moving it overseas. It makes sense for the budget series but nothing else. The J6006C arrived brand new and with a certificate of calibration. On the outside it is an all metal construction. Since Craftsman went made in china I had been looking for a tool company to switch to. It feels solid in my hands, and I am sure I will have decades of service with it. Always keep in mind you can check what Proto tools are made in the USA by visiting Protoโs Industrial website.

Good 3/8" Drive Torque Wrench
Made in America by PROTO ~ a long time industrial tool maker . Easy to use, just slide the locking ring down a little and twist the handle until the proper torque you need lines up with the central vertical line and you're good to go . Comes with protective blow molded box to keep in good order for decades . -Nate

Quality in question
Ordered the torque wrench as a gift. I own many different types of Proto hand tools. Wrenches, sockets, specialty wrenches, screw drivers, pliers you name it . As a trades man I have always purchased quality American made tools. Right out of the box this wrench did not work well. The ratchet binds at the three and nine o'clock position in both directions. The wrench looked great, but as any tool, it has to be able to do the job. This one failed! I find it disturbing that Proto would certify the torque wrench calibration on a wrench that was not working properly and then ship it out to a consumer. Now I have to wait a couple of months to get a replacement according to Amazon. I have already done my part, I shipped it back to Amazon yesterday. One would think that Amazon and Proto would make a better effort to send a replacement sooner, especially since it was a gift. To add balance to my review, all of my Proto tools have worked well over the years, this is the first Proto failure I have experienced. It is disappointing. Where has the quality gone? UPDATE: Recieved the replacement earlier than expected. Works great, made sure to try this one before gifting it away. Still find the first wrench a disappointment, but the replacement process went off without a hitch!

Shady Deal- Not The Wrench Pictured
This is my second attempt at getting a decent torque wrench from an Amazon supplier. The wrench I received this time is not the one in the picture. The case says "Stanley Proto J6006C" but the wrench is a cheap quality wrench worth about $30.00. Something is very shady here. It seems someone is putting a much cheaper wrench into a Proto box. Stay away from this wrench and supplier!
