Hulled Barley - a healthy alternative to rice or potatoes
I was unable to buy hulled barley locally. It has more fiber than pearled barley and I think it has more distinctive taste. I cook it in chicken, beef, or vegetable stock and use in place of potatoes. I'm on a restricted calorie, diabetic diet and it furnishes need fiber and low glycemic carbohydrates. It's a good addition to my diet plan. I will continue to purchase it.

Too expensive
This is hulled barley; the hull is left on and must cook longer than pearl barley, but the end result is better nutrition. There are cooking directions on the package. However, for ten bucks... way too expensive. The volume of 1 lb of hulled barley can fit into about one sandwich baggie. Though I have no complaints with the product, and a little bit of barley goes a long way.... at this price point, it is too expensive for me to order again. There is better value elsewhere on amazon.com

Bad experience, but it could be due to long storage on my part.
This could be a great company, this could be a great product, but you'll have to go through other reviews as well to get a better idea for sure. In my case after storing these for well over a year, I was ready to pull them out for use and lo-and-behold, little creepy bugs had taken over inside of the sealed package. A bit gross and didn't get to use them. Ended up tossing the unopened bag away to get rid the unidentified insects inside. It COULD be that somehow this was due to the longevity of storage before use. However, I checked the bag over for holes and un-proper seals, but couldn't see how they could of gotten in. I think it would be better for me to 'think' that they made a way in, instead of thinking that tiny eggs were already inside the sealed bag and could of been eaten... Nature and mishaps happen but I think for my own consciousness I would opt for different brand in the future.

Delicious, Nutritious Barley
I made beef barley and chicken barley soups with this product. Both were delicious, but I really loved the chicken. The barley gave the soup a wonderful flavor and a hardiness like stew that was very filling. We enjoyed it with hot, crusty bread. Yum!
