COOL GEL Chill Memory Foam 14-Inch Mattress with Pillow, CertiPUR-US Certified, Mattress in a Box, Twin XL, White

I recently had some health issues, so I decided to upgrade to an adjustable bed frame and a new mattress. I went to a local bedding chain store, and they tried to talk me into a really nice $7k mattress; I went to a discounter and found a $2800 mattress that I could kinda live with. I starting looking on amazon and realized that there are a lot of price points and options, but you can't test the beds out (obviously). I have to say that the number of reviews for this mattress really helped a lot!I had help from a friend setting up the adjustable frame, and then unrolled the mattress on top and carefully cut open the plastic with the supplied cutter. The mattress is porous enough that it looked about 85% expanded after an hour, and 100% by mid-afternoon. I really appreciated that there was no outgassing or smells from the mattress; my wife has a very sensitive nose and she had no sensitivity to it. I slept (passed out) on it the first night.The mattress support is what I'd consider as medium-firm. I had a softer mattress before, so I'm very aware right now that it is firmer, but it still gives and molds to where you are on top of the mattress. My wife likes a firm mattress and that to me is like concrete; this Cool Gel mattress is nice and supportive. I've had it two nites now and while I usually read for a bit before falling asleep, I'm laying down, getting comfortable and dozing off right away.I'm a side sleeper, but I've been waking up on my back so far. I think since the mattress supports me so well, I'm finding a neutral position and not having to move as much. I've not had an issue with feeling too hot with the mattress, but I have a Phoenix summer ahead to test how cool this will be!I also like the included pillows... they are not tall, and nice and plushy. Next weekend, I'll have go through the 6 or so other pillows I own had since I won't be needing them to adjust for comfort anymore.I also want to say thank you to all the reviewers who listed what they liked/didn't like about the mattress. It really helped me in my decision and saving a lot of money in this purchase. I hope this review can help someone else out there too.

Updated 12/2020 - We already had one of these mattresses purchase two years ago which has worked out great. So when I needed to replace our mom’s bed we went with what we knew was good. I fully expect this one to hold up just as well. As said the original about two years old feels and looks just the same as it did on day one. That first mattress was intended to be for the occasional guest but ended up being used regularly by a family member who moved back in for job related reasons.We have had several foam mattresses over the years. Some were good and some downright awful. The last one we purchased didn’t last as long for some reason, details on that later. So ordered this to take its place.The mattress arrives in a box about 2’x4’. Inside it is wrapped in two layers of plastic for protection. Unwrapped it pops into shape almost immediately. The pillow takes longer. There is absolutely no smell as some others can have. The materials used are very good. No obvious quality defects anywhere to be found.The mattress isn't too plush or firm pretty much smack dab in the middle for comfort. I have back problems, had a spinal fusion. when issues crop up the mattress in our bedroom is too much for me to take. So I go to the spare bedroom and this mattress gives me near instant relief. Of all I have had to date this is by far the most comfortable. I was surprised because before i had always thought i needed a firm mattress for relief? live and learn. We even had my mom who has scoliosis try it out and she was very surprised by the difference. She has a pillow top mattress that I purchased for her a few years ago. As comfortable as that is she agrees that this one is better.The only negative I can think of is that it takes just a bit to get used to the sides. I mean due to it being thicker and softer if you sit on the edge thinking you’ll be good, nope. If you sit too close to the edge it will compress and you will tend to slide off. That said after a couple days I got used to it so not really an issue.This mattress is great but not all are. As I said earlier our previous foam mattress didn’t last nearly as long as expected. Once this new arrived I went to dispose of the old one. In doing so the ‘all foam’ mattress was a lie. They put a 3” foam topper and glued that to pieces of cheap block foam. So while the memory foam lasted those pieces inserted to save costs degraded and fell apart over the span of a couple years. If you are going to get a foam mattress regardless what or where? Absolutely make certain it is all memory foam and not some glued up mismatch using cheaper materials.All said I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this again or recommend it to others. Hopefully it will hold up for a few years at least. i'll update as warranted.

UPDATE: 4 years later…. This is still the best mattress for me. No back pain. Still like new. Conforms to my body. It will indent some, (literally have had to turn it 2 times in 4 years) but all you have to do is turn it. And the indented part goes away. It’s truly the best mattress. I took a risk buying a lower cost mattress and I am so glad I did, better than any $1000.00 + mattress I have ever slept on. I bought the 10 inch for my daughter and she LOVES it. First purchase had a smell that went away (see below) but my daughters didn’t smell at all. All the luxuries of an expensive mattress for a much lower price.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ok, so my pics are of an unfinished bedroom, and a bed that I just painted white from black. So the bed only has sheets on it. As you can see, this mattress is 14 inches and is big. It's all of every bit of 14 inches and started rising before I could get it all of the way out of the plastic. It was at maximum within 5 minutes. The pillows... I LOVE. We bought an original box spring to go with it, and I have to raise my leg high and climb up in it. My dog cannot jump on it or get off by herself. I should have gotten a thin box spring, because now my mattress is way higher than the bedside tables. But I DO NOT CARE... I LOVE LOVE this mattress. The ONLY bad thing is the smell. The smell that came with mine was very strong, and even stronger in the pillows. So bad, I had to throw the pillows outside of my room to sleep. So tonight I will try to put the pillows in the dryer with softener sheets to see if that helps. I have slept on this mattress for 3 nights so far. I can tell a HUGE different. I have lower back pain, and bad hip pain that will shoot down my leg while sleeping. I have also been doing manual labor... and I thank god for this mattress, as I know my back would have been worse on my other mattress. If I lay on my back, it conforms to my back and feels great. If I lay on my side, I barely get hip pain. I don't toss and turn nearly as much in this. This is close to firm, but nothing like a firm mattress with coils would be. I have not noticed it being hot at all. And I live in Texas and it's mid summer. I just hope the smell goes away. It seems to slowly be going away. I probably should have not covered it right away and let it air out for a few days, but I just couldn't wait to get into it. I am so happy with this purchase. I feel like the regular price is steal, and I got it on prime day... which was even more of a steal. If I am already sleeping in this bed so well from day one.... I cannot imagine how much better it will get. I was worried being over weight (215) that it wouldn't support me as well... IT DOES! I feel like I am sleeping on a mattress that cost 5k. I would say (being that my hips are so bad) that this does well for pressure points. Pillows are kind of thin... but I like thinner pillows... and they seem very nice. Once the smell is gone, I will use them. Oh also.... mine is a queen... and I bought a queen box spring. The mattress is about 3-4 inches wider than the box spring is so I just centered it. I love that this mattress fills in the gaps on my bed. My pillow will no longer fall behind the mattress as I sleep.***UPDATE***The smell is still there. I had to put in a Fabrese plug in. I do not understand why this mattress still smells. It’s almost a mildew smell. I love this mattress. I’m not sure what to do with the smell. Sucks I took a star away for it. It still sleeps perfect and I enjoy getting into it. I just want the smell gone.***ANOTHER UPDATE****Smell is gone. It has taken a year or more for the smell to be completely gone. But worth it. I have had it for two years now and it’s amazing. Others posted is sags. I weigh a lot, not gonna lie, and mine doesn’t sag. It did indent a little, so I just turned it and it goes away. Nothing like a regular mattress that permanently indents.I still love this mattress and my back thanks me for getting it. It’s not soft, but soft enough. When you first get in, it feels firm, but the foam slowly confirms to your body and is great for back issues!Soft mattresses hurt my back. This mattress gives perfect support.People that got one that sink, got a lemon. This mattress is tough and holds its shape.I would buy again. And may for other rooms.I don’t use the pillows. Too soft. I had to buy Ikea contoured pillows. They work best for me.I have gotten hot on it, but I think it’s me and not the mattress (I’m 50) so I bought a Bedfan, and it solved my issues.Seriously .... worth it to buy this! Star has been given back too.

We love this mattress. It’s super comfortable. My fiancé have a really bad back from a rupture disc. And this mattress have helped him a lot. He’s not crawling out of bed in the morning anymore (I’m not exaggerating one bit. He used to roll off the bed and crawled to the bathroom every morning because he couldn’t stand up straight and the pain from his back shoots down to his legs.) and can actually put on his own socks. I used to have to wake up in the morning just to put on his socks for him because he couldn’t bend over. So it definitely helps with pain relief. Not going to lie and tell you, you’ll be pain free because if you have a bad back like my fiancé it’s for life. Nothing will take the pain away as you already know. But this mattress definitely helps with managing the pain and help you get some comfort. He now can get a good night sleep without tossing and turning or even waking up screaming in pain. I no longer disturb him getting out of bed in the middle of the night because i do it a lot. Our sleeping schedule is the tots opposite. The only and main issue is the heat, And that’s the only reason why it lost a star. All memory foam mattresses traps a lot of heat and even with the cool gel it still gets pretty hot. I even tried to change the sheets and not use microfiber, it helps but it still gets hot. We can lay in bed all day without feeling sore or getting uncomfortable. I used to be a side sleeper but this mattress is so comfortable I started to sleep on my back. I couldn’t do that with my old mattress because it would hurt my back/whole body. It’s really easy to set up as well. Pretty heavy so it’s definitely a 2 person job unless you are very strong. It only took about 5 hours to get to its full size. I did not have the patience to wait 24-72 hours like recommended so I measured it every hour and on the 5th hour the mattress was at 14inch. I took a nap on it (didn’t put any sheets or mattress protector on it because I was too lazy) right when it hit the 14inch and it was PERFECT!!! We didn’t have any issues with the smell at all. Only had a wiff of a chemically smell when we opened the plastic probably from being vacuumed sealed but it quickly went away within minutes. By the time we finished setting up (approximately 5 minutes) it was all gone. The bonus pillows that came with it puffed up within minutes after opening and it was also Super comfortable. No smell either and heads up it was vacuum sealed underneath the mattress. They are a match made in Heaven! Without having to spend an arm and leg to get a goodnight sleep this mattress is totally worth the money. If you’re like me, I’ve done a lot of researches and looked around for about a whole year before deciding. I’ve checked out different websites, different local mattresses stores, read countless reviews and then google some more, and finally found this to be the most reasonable price for a quality mattress. Hands down the best investment we’ve ever made! Definitely recommend for anyone Looking for a goodnight sleep without having to spend thousands of dollars. I would buy this again and again no questions asked.

We’ve been sleeping on these mattresses for a couple months now and we absolutely love them. We had an 8 inch cool gel for five years that we loved, but we really wanted to upgrade to an adjustable split king bed. I ended up having SI problems with my last pregnancy and now that I am pregnant again we really wanted to be able to have a bed that could do the reclined position so we went with a new mattress on each side from cool gel. We ordered two twin XL’s and they both came on the same day and fit the frame we had bought just perfectly. I’d say these mattresses are probably good for 5 to 10 years, we did have another mattress in mind but based on the price, these were much more worth it and we knew they were comfortable in a long-term, they’re pretty durable and keep their shape well. Good quality mattresses, they look super nice, and I think for the money these trump many mattress brands that we have gone and tried. We have tried Tempur-pedic, Sealy, purple, beauty rest, etc.. We slept on a air mattress for two months, trying to find an affordable mattress that we liked and we went to just about every furniture store. At the end of it we just decided to buy cool gel again and we do not regret it. I don’t even need a pregnancy pillow that’s how well supported I feel when I sleep on this bed, you sink in a little bit, but it is a firm cool feeling, and we sleep so well now.

One thing I am always suspicious of on Amazon are 5 star reviews. I usually gloss over them to see what people are really experiencing. If you look at bed reviews across the board on Amazon, you see about 70+% love the bed, and 15% or so had negative experiences. Take that for what it's worth.Now for the bed. I was really prepared to not like this bed as I haven't had a foam bed since the 70's. There were lot's of negative reviews for this bed, and I chalk it up to not everybody being pleased with it. Back to those percentages again.I'm a Vietnam veteran, and I am in pain much of the time. Beds I've had have not helped me much with the pain.Hips, back, even elbows. Pain keeps me awake many nights, and I have to take meds for pain, and to help me sleep.I am 350 lbs, and have lot's of joint problems,I had some friends come over to help me manhandle the heavy and cumbersome package. We opened the seal up on the vacuum seal, we were all were surprised and amazed by the bed almost inflating itself instantly. There was a sound like air whooshing into it! After reading many reviews of the bed taking many hours to right itself into the right size, I attributed it to every bed responding differently to locations and altitudes in transport and storage.There was one review here that I saw where a gentleman said that of it's nature, foam takes awhile when sleeping on it to go through several changes in firmness or support. I found this to be absolutely true. It has taken a few weeks of sleeping on it to find it's become unbelievably comfortable to me. I sleep on the left side of the bed, and as I would sleep a little more to the center, I found the center to be much more firm, uneven really... But, when I decided to put this theory to the test, I started to sleep in the middle, and yes, the foam feel became consistent with my usual sleep area. Now the middle sleeps like the left side,It really is very plush... to a certain level in the depth of the mattress, then it firms up about 3 inches down. I find it to be very soft to sleep in, while at the same time being firm enough to support me very well. I've slept all over the mattress now, and the bed feels consistent throughout. Also, this bed sleeps cool. I find the bed does not add or amplify heat at that 3" deep level I had mentioned. So the gelfoam is very cool.I've been sleeping well for the first time in years. I had spent well over 2 thousand on a support individual coil spring mattress, and hated it after a few months. With my weight, the coil bed springs just gave out. I would sink into it.Now for the truly unbelievable part. I have been getting great sleep for the first time in 10 years. I have actually cut down on my sleep meds, because I'm not fighting with pain that a bed usually adds to my pain level. And I am actually sleeping very well. My body feels very well rested, and for the first time in years, I'm not having as much back pain, awake or asleep. I haven't actually wanted to just lay there in my bed when I wake up for a long time, but do now cause I just want to enjoy the comfort a bit longer.I know, many of you have read front loaded 5 star reviews with the same cliche's before, like "sleeping on a cloud".Well, for me at least, it feels like sleeping on a cloud. If your considering buying this, remember, you could be in that 15 to 20% that it doesn't work for you, just like every other bed here. But for me, this one is a gem.

For all of you who have never owned a memory foam mattress, the mattress comes hard and you have to wait 2-3 days for it to expand out of the box. This mattress took about a month to soften but it is so comfortable. It softens with body heat to fit your body. Also, you have to buy a mattress protector before sleeping on it. The zippered kind make the mattress as hard as a standard mattress and makes you sweat. So I always buy a waterproof quilted mattress pad. It is comfortable and doesn't make you sweat. It protects the top and sides. Any spills go straight in and you can't get them out. You can't use a carpet cleaning machine on memory foam or any other liquid on it . You can only blot a stain off. Any stains void the warranty. I have been told by pest control that you probably won't lose it to bedbugs but ask a pest control person. Rotate the mattress every month but never flip it. Flipping will ruin these kind of mattresses. I have to be in bed almost 24/7 so I bought the 14 inch bed thinking it will last a good long time. It is so comfortable. I have a hospital bed-twin XL but didn't think about the added height and thicker/taller sheets to fit the mattress. I also use a regular mattress pad. My inseam is 31 inches. So I had to buy step stools to get into it easily and deeper pocket sheets or queen size cheaper sheets. Oh well. If you are more active you won't need the step stools. Also, with my adjustable frame doesn't work as easily as with thinner mattresses. I found that I don't need to be adjusted as much either. I could not afford any these other kind adjustable frames. They might work better. Overall, this mattress is one the best ones I have owned for the amount of money. If you went into a bed/furniture store this would be about three times this amount. I have a lot of health problems and pain and this mattress takes care of the pain and allows me to sleep comfortably. I will probably buy this brand in 15 years when this one wears out. I have owned this mattress for 4 months now. I waited this long to see how it would do before posting a review.

I’ve been in the middle of leaving a domestic violence situation for awhile now. The original mattress I ordered my ex got ahold of, opened and put on our bed. It felt/feels amazing. Fast forward to I then had to get another mattress now. Mind you I’ve been filling up a storage unit for a year at this point. Anyways, my original mattress was in stock I was so excited, added it to my cart due to not having enough money at the time. Week or so goes by and the mattress was the. Out of stock. I was heartbroken. So I search and search for something similar when I find this mattress. Amazing reviews, slightly cheaper and sounds more like heaven than my other one. Well I finally get an apartment and out of my domestic violence situation. Order this mattress with it’s amazing reviews. I have never been so disappointed in a mattress before. I slept on the couch for three days making sure I didn’t compromise it fluffing up. It is the most hardest bed I’ve ever laid on. There is no give the gel isn’t soft and forming like my other mattress. I toss and turn a lot and have to do that super easy now as it is that uncomfortable. I wake up every morning with a stiff back which sucks because I got this because of back problems. I’d literally be more comfortable on an air mattress that’s how disappointed I am. Not even had it a month yet. Love that it came with free pillows those are soft but way to high to sleep on which just cause more back pain and a stiff neck. I can not win. Also, I ordered a Queen and I’m thinking there is no way it’s an actual queen. I’ve had Queen my entire adult life and always had plenty of room. This bed, if I’m not completely at the top I hang off the bottom by quite a bit. I sat and cried for about two hours over this bed. I’m so glad to be out of the domestic violence situation but I wish I had seen reviews like this on this mattress so I could have saved myself. I’ve been using it about two weeks now and my opinion hasn’t changed once. I just reallllllly hope it softens up over time. Even my kids beds are more comfortable than this thing. If I had the money I’d buy another bed and give this one away for free it’s that bad. If I was able to return it, I would in a heartbeat. Like load it up and take it now please. This bed is awful. Don’t get if you like a soft bed and/or have a bad back.

Replaced my mattress ! Wow, what a great deal. Thick, plush mattress with a super high quality cover. Mattress has firm support. Giving a fantastic sleep. Improved back pain from day one. Cooling gel is wonderful. Bed is nice and cozy. I'm impressed. Pillows are super as well...no neck pain...just wonderful!! Truly a fantastic deal.

Expecting medium firm as it said but it’s not.Having back pain now.Other than this, it’s really good.

Amazing bed, I let it air out for 3 days and it's super soft and definitely feels better especially the morning after.

I like the packaging of this product, i didn't believe it was the right item i ordered for due to the packaging, i was amazed when i opened the box , it was exact same mattress i wanted 😊👍
