These flat bamboo skewers are sturdy, do not need to be soaked before using on a stovetop grill, and are very, very useful and extremely economical when you need a flat style skewer. Compared to very expensive metal versions on the market, these are much more economical and easy to use.

I used these skewers for a project other than skewering food. The green colorant on one side came off and messed up my results. I would think that the substance used in coloring one side of the skewers (green) might interact with food as well. I was very glad for flat skewers, but very unhappy that the skewers were not plain bamboo, rather colored on one side.

These are a MUST for those items you don't want flipping and turning all over the place when you are grilling. My favorite use is when grilling shrimp.

I was expecting your average bbq skewers these were horrible thin and too short to do much with. My bad, who orders 5" skewers anyhow? never again
