Most of us have been wowed by the delights of French patisserie. Now Edd Kimber shows you how to recreate these recipes at home! With step-by-step photographs for basic pastry and icings, Edd guides you through the techniques, taking the fear out of a Genoise sponge and simplifying a croissant dough. Chapters include: - Sweet Treats featuring Classic Financiers - Canneles and Eclairs - Desserts & Cakes such as Cherry Clafoutis and Buche de Noel - Pastry including basic recipes for pate sablee and pate sucree as well as recipes to use them in - Basics: the essential icings and creams, such as Mousseline and Creme Chantilly Edd's mouth-watering recipes use bakeware found in home kitchens (no need for expensive or complex equipment) so you too can create perfect patisserie! Review: Inspirational baking book - Discovered this author completely by chance and am now completely captivated by him. I started reading the recipes and immediately felt compelled to have a go! His writing style is informal but informative and made me think I could be successful with his recipes. I also loved the photographs of both the bakes and the images of France. A delightful, delicious delicacy! Review: New levels of baking - The title is accurate; these recipes do simplify pastry-making to a level that most good home bakers can handle. Some of it can be challenging; kouigh-amann is not something you undertake lightly. Still, this book would be a good way to move your baking t the next level, without the kind of financial or preparatory commitment required by a book like "On Baking" (which I also recommend, FWIW). Keep in mind that this is a British book and its measurements are in metric weights. Honestly, these recipes call for the kind of precision that wouldn't work any other way. Still, I know how some people feel about that, so be aware.

A Simply Delicious Book
This book had a lot of stories about how each recipe came about. It had tips at the end of each recipe. There were beautiful pictures to show how each recipe should look. This is truly a beautiful book.

Mouthwatering
I like challenging myself making things from scratch. French is my favorite, and the book is filled with recipes I want to try. Some of them are within my skill set, so exciting. I wish, however, that the old standard cups and tablespoons be an option.

Go Edd!
Love his blog, so this book is unsurprisingly amazing to me. The photos are beautiful and 95% the recipes are ones that people would actually make.

If you can weigh your ingredients . . .
Great recipes, just as I wanted. I just wish it included conversion charts so it can be used with US measuring devices.

A dream of a book!
If a book can make you happy then this is it! The recipes are written so thoroughly they are fool proof. I am a skilled baker but patisserie was new to me, but Ed made everything seem simple and well within reach. The book itself is a pleasure to read and the photography is beautiful. This is an excellent book, with super recipes but the stand out thing is the level of detail given in the method. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Beautifully written and presented.

Love the book and recipe
Love the book and recipe. They are easy as advertise. I am just sad that he didn't include the flourless chocolate cake recipe. Just remember to buy a scale with the book if you don't already own one!!

Great book, but why is it so big?
The recipes are great, Edd is brilliant. Only annoying thing is the size of the bookโฆ
