AcuRite Iris (01512MCB) Indoor/Outdoor Wireless Weather Station, Color Screen

Bought this for a gift. It has been learning for a couple of days and seems to be accurate. Easy set up, easy to read.

I love this acurite weather station, It is right on about everything but the temperature is about 5 degrees higher than my other thermometers when the sun is real bright and it is real hot outside, like 90 plus degrees. It was real easy to set up and the display is a nice size and bright and easy to read. Seems to function fine, I havent got to check the rain fall yet because it hasnt rained. Ive got another rain guage on the same post so I will check to see how close both read. Everthing else works fine. I really like it, great for the money.

Setup was easy, it looks good and seems to work fine. The inside console is a big step up from what we are used to. The size of the numbers and color coding of the data make it attractive, and the important data are easy to read. The little ‘weather ticker’ at the bottom of the screen is not easy to read unless you are close and get the light just right, but most of its information is historical so it is not critical to have at a glance. My only quibble is with the way it reports changes in barometric pressure. The barometer itself works fine, but the little arrow to indicate direction of change does not. Barometric pressure changes are reflected in the forecast pictograph, but I would prefer to see the arrow pointing up or down to help me plan for the day. All in all, at this point we are pleased and hope it lasts.

This is pretty nifty. However. 4 stars because product description ought to have pointed out that the electrical draw on the display is higher than batteries can handle, so must be plugged into AC all the time. Batteries are back up only. Second. Suggested height is 5'-33' in the air, completely unimpeded by roofing material, glares, asphalt streets, sprinklers, metal, electrical lines, etc. We can accommodate that here, had a random 15' telephone pole cutoff to use, but not many urban homes can actually pull off the space needed for this unit to function as intended. Third. The rain gauge is an issue. Since one of our major interests in the high plains is rainfall, that was a disappointment. The unit came with .21" annual rain already on it. Yes, I bought a return unit, so someone messed with it and I accept that. But if I can't find a reset it's always going to be inaccurate, because for us, .21" is a nice rain and we haven't had one of those. Also, in order to get accuracy with the rain gauge there's a built in leveling dot on top of the transmitter. The way this goes together, a plastic bracket screws into the post. Then the transmitter drops into the bracket. That leaves a big guessing game. You have to mount the bracket where it looks level, drop the transmitter in, oh, off a little. Instructions are clear that the rain gauge absolutely will not be accurate if it isn't level so there's some pressure to get it right, but the process is a crapshoot because the bracket itself isn't easily levelable, especially when the whole process is being done on a ladder tied to a telephone pole at 15'. Just dooooonnnn't drop the transmitter, whatever you do. You have to assemble and reassemble until you get the dot in the spot while dangling at your chosen height. Other than the ugly black cord dangling across the wall, the extra .21" of rain, and the fact I'm on stress break from the ladder to write this before I go tackle the leveling dot again.... I do think we will like it.

I am very pleased with this product and the AcuRite brand. The 5-in-1 performs well. This is the second AcuRite Iris I’ve owned. I encountered one minor issue, but their customer service and warranty support are outstanding!

Seemingly accurate device. Easy to mount. Display is bright ( dimmable) and clear. I like info data recorded and held for the month. Indoor and outdoor temperature displays are quite accurate. This unit doesn’t have all the data the tv weather men need, but it does have all the data I need.

We had an older La Crosse Technology weather station that eventually quit working. I researched many weather stations and decided this one had the best reviews from reliable sources. I made the right decision. The instructions were easy to follow and the station and display are built well. The display in particular is laid out well giving a lot of information without being too crowded or having to click through menus. If you buy this and think the fasteners are missing, look in the battery box of the station; they're in there. Also, while you are in the battery box, look for the QC number code which will be the date code you need for the product registration. Don't wait until it is way up in the air. I mounted this on a galvanized steel pole that I had in stock and fastened it to the eaves of our home. The pole is about 8 feet long and the entire station is about 17 feet from the ground and away from obstructions. Make sure everything is level and use the on board bubble level if you can. I devised a hinged mount so the station can be easily lowered to ground level for the annual or biannual battery replacement. The solar panel just helps run the fan which moves the air over the internal temperature sensor to help give an accurate reading when the station is in the sun. The panel does not charge the batteries but they strongly recommend lithium batteries which hold the charge much better in the cold. After only one week of use, I can highly recommend this basic station as being well designed, accurate and very useful.

Great product! It's sell contained (one device with all the sensor equipment on it). My past weather station had a bizarre tree of arms that had each sensor separate with wires connection them. The best feature is the solar panel/fan in the 5 in 1 sensor. I need to mount mine where the sun shines on it so I can get a wind reading. The solar powered fan draws air through the unit, so the temperature reading is right on the actual outside temperature. Other units (like my last one) would register 20 degrees hotter due to sun load. Highly recommend this product!

Tuve un pequeno problema, el tiempo no querida para de cambiarse, no habia ayuda en los instruciones pero fui al pagina de AcuRite y me ayudaron. Ya todo esta bien pero si gaste un tiempo para resolvar el problema.

I've had a few of these over the years but this one seems so far to be a winner! Easy to set up and install, good range from the outdoor unit to the indoor base, doesn't drop out signal. The data displayed is clear, precise and not complicated. Fun and interesting to use. Highly recommend.
